Job Summary

The VP of Distribution is a very important strategic leadership role for the company, responsible for the company’s warehouse operations in North America, staffing, certifications, OSHA compliance, and overall distribution processes. The VP also responsible for achieving operations teams’ growth, service and quality objectives for our customers. This leader has broad accountabilities and oversee operations, distribution and quality for a multi-site distributor. The ideal candidate will be a natural leader with deep distribution experience has worked in high mix, high volume distribution. Proven financial and statistical skills for P&L responsibilities are required

In addition, the VP oversees the Inventory Control department across all facilities and is responsible for inventory management and control. This leader must be both “hands on” as well as a strategic thinker who can anticipate issues and future needs for this fast-growing business. He/she must possess the ability to develop a strategy and provide clear direction to the team to ensure success.



Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership, education, support, motivation and direction to management and direct reports.
  • Develop strategic plan to advance the organization’s distribution objectives to drive increased revenue, profitability, and growth.
  • Create and maintain standard operating procedures to customer facing SLAs and ensure that systems data are maintained, accurate, and cost effective.
  • Develop and manage annual operating budgets for warehouse and distribution in conjunction with SVP of Operations.
  • Work with IT and Continuous improvement to help define and deploy IT systems, automation, and process improvements to support higher volume, future growth, and best in class facilities.
  • Define goals and KPI’s for each team.
  • Work with sales and production teams to evaluate inventory and throughput capacity requirements.
  • Oversee all IC functions, processes, and operations.
  • Oversee the scheduling of physical inventory in all facilities.
  • Perform analysis, generate reports, and design processes to increase inventory accuracy and team productivity.
  • Provides leadership and assists in planning temporary labor. Oversees and approves all temp work and overtime needs.
  • Works with warehouse teams to design processes/standards and works with the warehouse managers on a plan to enforce and monitor compliance.
  • Reviews and assists the warehouse managers in assessing workload, dealing with situations that require additional resources, and HR related needs and issues.

Experience:

  • Prior leadership distribution experience. Operations Executive with experience leading distribution operations in a PE environment utilizing KPIs to track performance. Industry experience preferred.
  • Proven track record of implementing performance improvement programs in a multi-site DC network including the ability to teach and foster a Continuous Improvement mindset to drive incremental improvements.
  • Experience in a fast-paced, complex environment to drive EBITDA growth in a short time frame.
  • Demonstrated a transformation mindset with financial acumen to drive enterprise value through multiple operational levers in a predominately mass-market wholesale model.
  • Proven capabilities of identifying and developing talent to build high functioning teams to deliver results.
  • A clear communicator with proven ability to articulate a vision, gain buy-in from the team and drive change in an ambiguous environment.
  • Experience setting up new DCs, consolidating DCs, WMS implementation & automation to drive productivity up and reduce operating costs.
  • Bilingual (Spanish speaking) is a plus.
  • Extensive experience and skill in retail distribution processes, logistics, supply chain management, warehouse operations, and transportation management preferred. Very strong leadership skills including team facilitation, training, and motivation; able to work well with all levels of team members with different backgrounds and needs

Years Of Experience

  • 10-15 years progressive leadership roles and responsibilities providing guidance and mentorship, preferably in a Supply Chain Operations role (Warehouse / Transportation / Manufacturing/Automation)
  • 5-7 years proven successful third-party logistics and / or CPG leadership. Wholesale operations and understanding is a plus.
  • BS (degree in logistics and a MBA or Masters Preferred)
