Reporting To: Chief Operating Officer

Job Description

The Vice President of Clinic Operations will oversee all operational functions for Spine Team Texas Clinics. This Vice Present of Clinic Operations is a pivotal position that plays a crucial role in the day-to-day operations and overall success of STT’s. Ensure internal controls and financial processes with the STT system are running smoothly and compliant with policy and procedure. Serve as an integral factor in the development of the financial. Builds and maintains strategic relationships. Manages conflict and competing imperatives. Builds customer loyalty among physicians, employees, and the community. This role will collaborate with the COO to develop operational and financial strategies for the clinics and facilitate these strategies across to all direct reporting Practice Managers for the clinics.

This role will have day-to-day, ongoing impact in clinical operations by strategizing and analyzing the growth of the clinical operation for STT. The VP of Clinical Operations must be able to understand current accounting practices and trends and adapt to change.

The Vice President of Clinic Operations will provide leadership, management, and vision necessary to ensure that the clinics have the proper operational controls, administrative and reporting procedures, and people systems in place to effectively grow the organization. Central to this role is building positive and lasting relationships with employees, providers, and patients. As a member of senior management, the VP of Clinic Operations will be comfortable in a leadership role that requires clear and effective communication skills.

Responsibilities And Accountabilities

  • Work closely with the COO to develop and accomplish goals and strategic plans established by board members and executives of the Company. Collaborates with others to establish vision and values for patient care services. Translates vision throughout the organization. Leads with a focus on execution achieving high impact across quality, services, and cost goals.
  • Spearhead the development, communication, and implementation of effective growth strategies and processes.
  • Collaborate with the management team to develop and implement plans for the operational infrastructure of systems, processes, and personnel designed to accommodate the rapid growth objectives of our organization.
  • Oversee all financial expenditures for the clinics and will partner with the COO to budget and forecast capital investments.
  • Responsible for the measurement and effectiveness of all processes internal and external; provides timely, accurate and complete reports on the operating condition of the Clinics.
  • Motivate and lead a high-performance management team; mentor direct reports to cultivate skills and to increase consciousness of the interrelationship between each department in the operations groups.
  • Develop and implement best practices and tools to ensure a well-controlled yet flexible organization that has strong fiscal management, project coordination, cross-team communications, and workflows.
  • Provide direction to a service organization that mirrors the adopted mission and core values of the Company.
  • Remain knowledgeable of market and industry trends, competitors, and all aspects of the industry.
  • Establish key performance indicators (KPI’s) for management of the operations group.
  • Responsible for short- and long-term planning for each clinic location
  • Gather and analyze patient trends to assist in developing clinical strategy.
  • Ensures that PHI, privacy breaches, OCR or patient complaints regarding privacy to the EPO or Compliance is completed in a timely manner and enforces corrective action plans.
  • Represent the Company at various community activities; meet and network regularly with business leaders in the community.

Professional Experience & Qualifications

The preferred candidate must be able to think strategically and execute tactically. To do so, s(he) must be able to establish credibility as a clinician and an executive. As a corollary to the above, the ability to effectively communicate with diverse internal and external constituencies and stakeholders is essential. It is expected this individual will exemplify the values of the organization and bring a competent, passionate, and high-energy focus to the Quality, Patient Safety and Performance Improvement programs and activities.

Minimum Requirements

  • Possesses a requisite level of technical and professional knowledge in accounting including exceptional leadership skills.
  • Experience in developing others and managing individual performance.
  • Innovation focused through continuous business improvement.
  • Executive style in dealing with all levels of management both internally and externally.
  • Bachelor’s Degree from a four-year university or equivalent experience is required; additional education is preferred.
  • Experience working in an orthopedic clinical industry in a senior management role is required.
  • A minimum of 4 years in a manager or director level position is required.
  • The VP of Clinic Operations needs to possess the skills and training to manage and lead a diverse group of people.
  • The incumbent needs to understand how to develop and integrate systems and processes into an organization so the organization’s structure can operate smoothly and efficiently.
  • The VP of Clinic Operations needs to have a proven track record of success both working in and managing via a matrix structure.
  • Continuous knowledge of supply costs and appropriately assess variances.

Physical Requirements And Work Environment

Position may require lifting of patients when necessary while assisting staff as needed within the clinic. Standing or sitting for an extended amount of time may be necessary with this position. Must be able to work under pressure. Tasks may involve exposure to blood or other potentially infectious materials.

Educational Requirements & Position Qualifications

Minimum: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Health Care Administration, related field or related medical group practice experience.

Experience

Minimum: Five (5) years progressive, out-come oriented management experience in a medium multi-location practice with three (3) years' experience in practice management and operations, and medical staff relations.

Special Skills

Minimum: Extensive knowledge of health care issues, trends, legal compliance and group practice management.

Excellent time management skills, including ability to prioritize own work and the work of others effectively.

Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, including but not limited to creating a collaborative work culture and developing & coaching direct reports.

Compliance And Formal Change Management Experience Preferred.

Excellent written and oral communication skills, including ability to effectively present information to senior management.
