Vice President of Business Development (M&A/Investment Banking)

Our client, a premier middle-market investment bank specializing in the building products/materials industry, is seeking a highly skilled and strategic Business Development Leader to join their team. This unique role combines expertise in business development, lead generation, sales, and marketing, with a focus on identifying and engaging potential clients in the building industry. The ideal candidate will have a hunter mentality, a strong background in M&A, and a proven track record in deal sourcing and origination within the industrials and building sectors.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Planning: Develop and implement business development strategies to drive growth and achieve company objectives.
  • Lead Generation: Develop and execute lead generation strategies to identify owner/operators looking to sell their companies and potential buyers, including other owner/operators and private equity firms.
  • Sales and Marketing: Drive sales and marketing efforts to generate new leads and opportunities. Develop and execute go-to-market (GTM) strategies.
  • Mergers and Acquisitions: Collaborate with the M&A team to identify and evaluate M&A opportunities. Assist in managing the deal process, including due diligence, valuation, negotiation, and integration.
  • Partnerships and Alliances: Identify and establish strategic partnerships and alliances to enhance the company's market position and product offerings.
  • Market Research: Conduct thorough market research to identify trends, opportunities, and competitive dynamics in the building products/materials industry.
  • Stakeholder Management: Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including business owners, private equity firms, financial advisors, and industry professionals.
  • Financial Analysis: Support financial analysis and modeling to assist in business development initiatives and strategic planning.
  • Performance Monitoring: Monitor and evaluate the performance of business development initiatives to ensure they meet financial and strategic goals.
  • Leadership: Provide leadership and mentorship to the business development team, fostering a culture of high performance and continuous improvement.


Sectors to Target:

  • Industrials, primarily home services, construction, and building products/materials.
  • Specific experience in flooring, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, lumber and building materials, roofing and siding, and home improvement retail is highly desirable.


Qualifications:

  • Experience: Minimum of 10 years of experience in business development, investment banking, corporate development, private equity, or a related field, with a focus on the building products/materials industry. Experience in investment banking, M&A advisory, corporate development leadership, private equity, or ESOP advisory is a plus.
