About This Position

The vice president of admissions plays a crucial role in ensuring that our organization provides high-quality care and education to children and families in need. This position is responsible for developing and implementing strategies to attract, enroll, and retain children in our programs. The incumbent will lead a team of admissions and enrollment professionals to ensure that our enrollment processes are efficient, equitable, and responsive to the needs of the communities we serve.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Cultivating collaborative relationships with colleagues and external constituencies to ensure consistent strategic enrollment success;
  • Developing and implementing strategic plans for admissions and enrollment management, including setting enrollment targets, identifying target populations, and developing outreach strategies to reach prospective families;
  • Supervising the management of the following departments: recruitment and outreach; intake; resource and referral; and voucher programs;
  • Overseeing the admissions process — from inquiry to enrollment — for the voucher and subsidized programs, ensuring it is streamlined, customer-focused, and responsive to the needs of prospective families;
  • Developing and implementing policies and procedures to ensure fair and equitable admissions practices;
  • Developing and implementing outreach and recruitment strategies to attract prospective families to our center-based and voucher programs;
  • Collaborating with marketing and communications staff to develop marketing materials, conduct outreach events, and promote our programs in the community;
  • Ensuring that prospective families receive excellent customer service throughout the admissions process;
  • Training admissions staff to provide accurate information, answer questions, and address concerns in a timely and professional manner;
  • Monitoring enrollment trends and demographics to identify areas for growth and improvement;
  • Developing strategies to increase enrollment and retention rates, including targeted outreach to underserved populations and partnerships with community organizations;
  • Collecting and analyzing data on admissions and enrollment to identify trends, patterns, and areas for improvement;
  • Using data to inform decision-making and develop strategies to enhance the effectiveness of our admissions processes;
  • Collaborating with program staff, finance, and operations teams to ensure that enrollment goals align with program capacity and budgetary constraints;
  • Working closely with program managers to coordinate admissions with programmatic needs and ensure that enrollment reflects the diversity of the communities we serve;
  • Ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and requirements related to admissions and enrollment;
  • Staying informed about changes in regulations and best practices in admissions and enrollment management.

What You Bring To The Table

  • Bachelor's degree in education, business administration, nonprofit management, or a related field;
  • Proven experience in admissions, enrollment management, or related field, preferably in a child care or education setting;
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to lead a team and develop and implement strategic plans;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with prospective families, community partners, and internal stakeholders;
  • Knowledge of admissions and enrollment best practices, including customer service, outreach, recruitment, and data analysis;
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment;
  • Passion for the mission and goals of the organization, with a commitment to providing high-quality care and education to children and families in need.

Job specifications

  • Reports to the chief growth and innovation officer;
  • Exempt, full-time, 12-month work year;
  • Eight-hour workday; four-day work week;
  • Opportunity for hybrid-work schedule to be determined by management;
  • Limited evening or weekend hours may be required;
  • Employment, responsibilities, compensation and other factors may be affected by changes in governmental regulations, the organization’s contracts, or at organization discretion.
