Barvin is a privately held commercial real estate investment and development firm located in Houston, Texas, owned by Houston-based entrepreneur Eric Barvin. Our commercial real estate platform serves as asset manager of a portfolio of multi-family properties totaling over 4,500 units in Texas and Georgia. Barvin also has a property management and construction management division, and in 2019, it began ground-up development.


POSITION DESCRIPTION


The Vice President of Acquisition will be the key driver in sourcing and securing high-potential real estate opportunities through extensive networking and face-to-face interactions. This role requires a dynamic professional with a strong presence in the real estate community, exceptional negotiation skills, and the ability to cultivate and maintain relationships with property owners, brokers, and other key stakeholders. The VP of Acquisition will work closely with the executive team to align acquisition strategies with Barvin's growth objectives.

EXPECTATIONS/DUTIES

  • Develop and implement an acquisition strategy focused on networking and direct interactions with property sources.
  • Actively identify and pursue real estate acquisition opportunities by attending industry events, conferences, and meetings with property owners and brokers.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with property owners, real estate agents, developers, and other industry professionals.
  • Lead face-to-face negotiations for property acquisitions, including price, terms, and conditions.
  • Conduct site visits and property tours to assess potential acquisitions.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including brokers, legal teams, and financial institutions, to facilitate the acquisition process.
  • Oversee the preparation and presentation of acquisition proposals to the CEO/CIO executive team .
  • Manage and mentor a team of acquisition professionals, providing guidance and support to achieve departmental goals.
  • Stay abreast of market trends, economic conditions, and regulatory changes that could impact acquisition strategies.
  •  Monitor and report on the performance of acquired properties and ensure they meet expected returns.


EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Real Estate, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.



WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in real estate acquisitions, with a proven track record of successful transactions.
  • Strong understanding of real estate markets, financial analysis, and investment strategies.
  • Exceptional networking, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to lead and motivate a team in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Proficiency in financial modeling and analysis software.
  • High level of integrity, professionalism, and attention to detail.
  • Willingness and ability to travel extensively to engage with potential property sources.
  • Requires 25% travel to different markets.
