Job Summary

The VP of Accounting & Finance leads the Accounting, Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A), and related back-office administrative teams to improve the company’s financial performance.


As VP of Accounting & Finance, You Will…


Lead the Team

  • Lead and inspire a high-performing team, fostering a culture of accountability, productivity, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Set clear targets, goals, and performance expectations, providing dynamic support, coaching and guidance to ensure success.
  • Ensure team organizational structure, staffing, and talent remain dynamically aligned with the evolving needs of the business.
  • Empower team to drive process efficiencies, improvements, and embrace a growth mindset to achieve collective success.


Own Accounting

  • Ensure the Company’s Financial Statements, tax and other compliance related reports are accurate and completed on time.
  • Ensure operational cash flow and financing activity is managed appropriately to support the current and anticipated future needs of the business.
  • Consistently improve and shorten monthly close and reporting processes.
  • Develop and implement accounting controls to manage business risks, including customer billing processes, credit management, accounts receivable & cash applications, inventory reconciliation, banking covenants, etc.


Own Financial Planning & Analysis

  • Lead FP&A efforts for the Company.
  • Lead operating and capital budgeting processes.
  • Assess business channel/profit center profitability and cost-to-serve performance, modeling cost-benefits and risk/reward impacts of potential enhancements.
  • Analyze financial trends and patterns with a focus on driving business improvement solutions.
  • Communicate and report financial variances with a priority focus on root cause identification and resolution.
  • Analyze and project cash flow and capital needs to ensure sufficient liquidity to support current business operations and projected growth.
  • M&A activities through forensic data review, historical & pro-forma economic future-state modeling, due diligence analysis, valuation, and post-transaction integration synergies.
  • Work collaboratively with IT/IS team on post-transaction integration effort including the transitioning of legacy reporting processes into the Company’s established reporting structure and the applicable training of acquired staff.


Support Company Management

  • Collaborate with Operations, Marketing, Accounting, HR, IT/IS, Sales, Supply/Procurement, Safety, and other management stakeholders as a financial partner, providing insightful performance, variance, and trend analysis, scenario modeling, and facilitate tactical and strategic decision-making processes.
  • Help determine success criteria and KPIs to evaluate initiatives and measure results
  • Assist team members as needed with ‘deep dive’ analysis for areas of business concern and to analyze potential new programs.


Ensure Systems & Processes Support Accurate & Timely Information

  • Make sure critical systems (PDI, CTUIT, Service Channel, Product Pricing) consistently work and provide accurate information for each user.
  • Oversees store technology including point of sale systems, product dispensers, back office, etc.
  • Ensure systems support financial reporting for new business segments and programs.
  • Identify opportunities to optimize system set up and use.
  • Review system gaps to identify new systems needed to support our business.


Drive Operational Excellence

  • Identify cost savings opportunities and reduce waste.
  • Recommend ideas to improve operating efficiency.
  • Work collaboratively with leadership team to explore new sources of revenue.


Supervision of Others

  • Accounting, FP&A, and related roles.


Travel

  • ~20%


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Required

  • Degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in accounting, finance, and related disciplines.
  • Minimum of five years' experience in accounting or finance leadership.
  • Strong team leadership, management, and organizational abilities.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, public speaking skills, and the ability to cultivate relationships with senior leadership, owners/investors, banks, and professional services providers.
  • Ability to think critically and creatively and thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic, and often ambiguous work environment.
  • Project management skills.
  • Significant ERP, Power BI, SQL, and Microsoft Excel expertise.
  • Attention to detail to ensure accuracy of reporting.


Preferred

  • MBA and/or advanced Accounting/Finance degree
  • FP&A experience
  • Experience with large M&A activities.
  • Previous VP or CFO level experience
