An early-stage, mission-driven, technology company that is disrupting the homebuilding industry is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Vice President of Accounting to lead its finance team. Reporting to the CEO, the ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker with extensive experience in financial management, accounting principles, and regulatory compliance. The Vice President of Accounting will play a pivotal role in shaping the company's financial strategy, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and maintaining compliance with all relevant regulations.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Financial Strategy: Develop and implement financial strategies to support the company's growth objectives, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling.
  • Financial Reporting: Oversee the preparation of timely and accurate financial reports, including monthly, quarterly, and annual statements, in compliance with GAAP and company policies.
  • Risk Management: Identify and mitigate financial risks, including those related to taxation, currency fluctuations, and regulatory compliance.
  • Internal Controls: Establish and maintain robust internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Team Leadership: Provide leadership and direction to the accounting team, fostering a culture of high performance, continuous improvement, and collaboration.
  • Audit and Compliance: Coordinate with external auditors and regulatory agencies to ensure compliance with all financial reporting and disclosure requirements.
  • Tax Planning: Work closely with tax advisors to develop tax strategies that optimize the company's tax position while ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes, enhance efficiency, and improve the accuracy of financial reporting.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate with other departments, including finance, legal, and operations, to support business initiatives and strategic objectives.
  • Professional Development: Stay abreast of industry trends, accounting standards, and regulatory changes, and ensure ongoing professional development for yourself and the accounting team.


Qualifications:

  • CPA Certification: Must be a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) with active licensure.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field; advanced degree (e.g., MBA) preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in accounting and finance roles, with at least 5 years in a leadership capacity. Prior experience in manufacturing and/or construction industries is highly desirable.
  • Industry Knowledge: Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting standards (GAAP), and regulatory requirements.
  • Leadership Skills: Proven track record of effectively leading and developing high-performing teams.
  • Analytical Abilities: Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial data and make strategic recommendations.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strategic Thinking: Ability to think strategically and contribute to the development and execution of the company's overall business strategy.
  • Attention to Detail: Meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy and precision in financial reporting.
  • Adaptability: Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.


Compensation: $175-225K base plus discretionary bonus and stock options
