We are seeking an exceptional leader with a proven track record in sales, underwriting, and product development across a health plan. Collaboration with leadership across Texicare is essential in this role, as a member of the Senior leadership team. This person will routinely work in collaboration with: Finance, Actuarial, Strategy, Compliance, Operations, Network and Clinical. Leveraging Texicare’s mission, vision, and values to guide strategy, while managing the implementation of a new Plan’s offering is the balance that must be achieved for success in this role.


Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Texicare, the VP, Line of Business must gather perspective from external partners, while delivering key results. This person will be responsible for developing, implementing, and managing strategies to achieve financial and membership targets, driving operational excellence and building scalable solutions for health insurance products across the state of Texas.


Location: Austin, TX. Travel within Texas and occasionally outside of Texas is required.


In this role, you will:

●      Developing and implementing sales strategies that result in exceeding annual membership target

●      Developing and implementing underwriting strategies that result in exceeding annual financial targets

●      Developing and implementing a Product strategy that is competitive and compelling to our target customers

●      Building key external relationships across agency, broker, and employer community

●      Building key internal relationships with parent company leaders at Texas Mutual

●      Effectively managing vendor relationships across the health plan

●      Setting strategic direction and goals across the team while measuring results and coaching for performance


To be successful in this role, you should have:

●      In-depth experience and knowledge of the mechanics of a health plan

●      Understanding of distribution strategies across the industry

●      Experience selling and underwriting in the small group segment, what attracts those buyers, how to assess risk and building the product strategy to correlate

●      Experience working with third party vendors to execute contractual agreements while also delivering key results

●      Experience collaborating with marketing partners (creative, P.R) to deliver brand campaigns aligned to strategy and growth objectives

●      A demonstrated track record of leading teams, setting direction, and delivering results

●      An ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment

●      An ability to balance multiple inputs while making informed decisions

●      A demonstrated ability to effectively communicate across key internal and external audiences to highlight progress and challenges to key deliverables

●      Bachelor's Degree in related discipline or equivalent education and experience required.

●      Ten (10) years of diversified experience in health plan leadership or other industry-related fields is required.

●      Master's Degree in a related discipline preferred.
