Macdonald & Co. has been exclusively retained by a leading national real estate developer, to appoint a Vice President of Development, for their burgeoning industrial division based out of Dallas, TX. Position SummaryThe VP of Industrial Development role includes being the primary development officer for the Company’s industrial development projects, including being hands-on with project organization, due diligence, project management and oversight of projects while assisting with land acquisition, leasing and financing.This position requires well-rounded real estate development skills and a deep understanding of industrial development projects and construction.
Essential Functions/Responsibilities Manage project progress including monitoring, tracking, reporting on project progress, and working with the Construction team to ensure timely completionManage communication and interact effectively with key stakeholders responsible for completing various phases of projects including community leaders, architects, consultants, contractors, and municipal staffManage proposals and RFP responsesLead weekly update meetings regarding development and marketing effortsCreate, track and manage proformas and project schedulesGenerate, navigate and expand relationships in the regional brokerage communityDirect coordination with the marketing department to ensure all collateral is up to date and relevantPerform tasks such as generating agreements, invoices, procurement of contracts, preparing agendas and ensuring meetings are scheduled, and performing lease abstractsLead project start-up and closeout meetings; manage jobsite progression, ensuring that all phases of a project are completed within specifications and on timePrepare written materials documenting activities, providing written reference, and/or conveying informationAct as an extension of the Ownership Group
Education and/or Experience Bachelor’s degree required. Degree in Real Estate, Civil Engineering, Architecture, Construction Science (or similar related field) is preferred for this position.Minimum 7-years of development experience, with at least 3-years focused on the industrial sector Skills/Specialized Knowledge Knowledge of federal, state and local codes.Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to relate to others.Professional verbal and written communication skills.Strong organizational and time-management skills.Ability to perform advanced mathematical and accounting functions.Must be proactive, self-directed, and highly motivated.Must have strong leadership ability.Ability to multi-task.
