Estimated Salary: $140,000 - $150,000

Job Summary:

The Head of Client Onboarding is responsible for coordinating Cohen & Steers’ onboarding efforts for new client accounts across multiple business units and vehicle types, as well as account modifications and maintenance of existing client accounts. The Head of Client Onboarding is the principal point of contact for the business’ onboarding activities and a major contributor to strategic initiatives at the firm level. Implementation activities span multiple internal groups – Investments, Trading, Legal & Compliance, Product and Distribution, Sales, Relationship Management, Finance, IT and Operations. Major Responsibilities/Activities:

  • Coordinate and lead all client onboarding activities, establish and maintain standard operating procedures in accordance with industry best practices
  • Assist in the development of workflow and processes designed to support the various onboarding objectives of the firm
  • Development, ownership and enhancement of client account database
  • Understand the onboarding process comprehensively and from all aspects – legal, compliance, operations, investments – and be able to develop strategies to meet changing requirements within a defined timeline
  • Develop meaningful relationships with key internal stakeholders through regular communication and strategic programs
  • Prepare onboarding updates, present to stakeholder groups and senior managers across the firm
  • Provide oversight, leadership and expertise across functional areas within global investment operations
  • Identify risks, anticipate issues and maintain controls in a fast-paced environment
  • Utilize strategic communication skills to influence internal partners and achieve desired results
  • Lead key workstreams for both short- and long-term projects related to account onboarding, product strategy initiatives and other comparable undertakings
  • Prioritize needs and resources appropriately to deliver positive business outcomes
  • Establish and maintain a record of success in all phases of onboarding and client account maintenance, including consistently enhancing the process incrementally over time
  • Oversee the completion of internal requirements/setup for all onboarding events by tracking, documenting and reporting on progress to senior management
  • Escalate issues to senior leadership


Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 7+ years of buy-side client/account onboarding and financial services operations experience
  • Project Management
  • Deep understanding of operational processes, challenges and issues
  • Capable presentation skills and able to use influence to deliver results
  • Past successes in contributing to business transformation projects
  • Strong analytical and creative solutioning abilities
  • Strong written communications
  • Strong organization skills with high attention to detail
  • Microsoft Office and project management applications
  • Talent development and team leadership
