Vice President for Academic Affairs

Caldwell University invites applications and nominations for the position of Vice President for Academic Affairs. Reporting directly to the President of the University and serving on the University Cabinet, the Vice President for Academic Affairs (VPAA) at Caldwell University is a key leader who provides robust leadership, creative and energetic direction, and vision for the academic community at the institution. As an executive leader operating within a shared governance environment and who works with academic leaders and faculty as well as staff, the VPAA will be expected to strengthen and expand student success initiatives and enrollment strategies that support Caldwell University's enrollment goals.

Job Duties Include, But Are Not Limited To

  • Serving as a member of the University cabinet leadership team with responsibility for academic strategic planning, fiscal management, policy and priority setting, accreditation reviews, and overall administration.
  • Supervising all matters related to academic instruction, programs, and services including faculty and staff appointment and development, academic program reviews, curriculum and program development, teaching effectiveness and training, faculty tenure and promotions, advising, and institutional research data management.
  • Collaborating and supporting the efforts of Enrollment Management to develop new student enrollment, to increase student retention as well as to expand the University’s curriculum into new delivery modalities and program areas.
  • Collaborating with Student Life and others on student success initiatives, advising, internships, service learning and similar programs.
  • Overseeing development of grant proposals to support academic and student success programs.
  • Serving as a primary liaison with the Faculty Council and other committees at the University, the Board of Trustees Committee on Academic Affairs, and various external groups.
  • Working closely with the President to keep him informed concerning issues and challenges in academic affairs, the community, and higher education.

Required Qualifications

  • Distinguished record in teaching and scholarship with an earned doctorate degree to warrant academic appointment at the rank of professor in one of Caldwell University’s academic departments.
  • Progressive experience in administrative responsibility, including experience at a comparable university at the level of dean, associate provost, VPAA or similar position.
