The Vice President, Engineering will be responsible for defining and implementing the engineering priorities for the company in accordance with the company’s strategic aspirations, goals, and objectives. This must be accomplished in a highly sustainable and engaging way, with a strong emphasis on learning, teaching, and developing employees’ capabilities and all aspects of the Click Bond Way.

The Vice President, Engineering will work closely with the company’s senior leadership to define and implement robust processes to enable product development, test and certification programs, manufacturing process development, process control, and operational continuous improvement initiatives that help ensure the sustainability of a privately-held and multi-generational family-owned enterprise, driven from a core of innovation, in alignment with Click Bond’s distinct culture and its well-defined vision, mission, and values.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Product Development:

  • Oversee the full product development lifecycle, from concept to production, ensuring products meet or exceed industry standards and customer expectations.
  • Lead teams to focus on both the integrity of product including developing and maintaining manufacturing standards for production rates while also enabling creativity to expand the possible in product and process design, process improvements, and technology implementation throughout the organization.
  • Participate in the ongoing cultivation and execution of the company’s product design and development strategy, including the creation, discreet evaluation, and protection of novel technical ideas as possible intellectual property.
  • Provide leadership in the development, implementation, execution and maintenance of the company’s Product Data Management (PDM) initiatives, as well as provides input as a member of CB’s executive leadership to develop, implement, execute and maintain a Product Development Process (PDP).


Engineering Leadership:

  • Represent the engineering function in a full spectrum of venues from enterprise leadership to technical experts, to line engineering, to the shop floor.
  • Provide thoughtful skilled leadership in advocating for engineering equities balanced with other functions like sales, operations, and quality.
  • Develop and encourage early-career engineers' managers and prepare them for greater responsibility.
  • Challenge existing practices and implement new ones, leveraging known industry best practices and creating novel tailored solutions.


Engineering Strategy:

  • The defined strategy must ensure that the company fulfills existing commitments to the marketplace with utmost integrity, while maintaining the health of the company’s unique culture and innovation engine over a multigenerational horizon.
  • Develop and execute the company's near- and mid-term engineering strategies to support Click Bond’s long-term enterprise growth and development goals.
  • As part of the company’s leadership team, influence the company’s long term strategic goals and growth.
  • Envision performance measures that represent the most effective means available for measuring and communicating the overall trajectory and progress of the company’s engineering initiatives to employees, fellow leaders, the Executive Team, the CEO, and the Board.
  • Reconcile engineering functions to balance and enable complementary vertical strategies in the other enterprise functions.
  • Advise and assist peer functions in the execution of their work helping them to accurately assess risks and benefits of a given process or investment (existing or proposed).


Institution Building:

  • Conceive and oversee the installation of a new engineering organization one that addresses and supports the full lifecycle of current and future products and their delivery to the customer.
  • Install the necessary processes and relevant information technology (IT) systems to enable required controls, documentation, and other compliance measures.
  • Develop a dynamic work environment that supports attracting and retaining new engineers one that provides logical career growth opportunities and honors and leverages each individual’s potential.


Research and Development:

  • Drive innovation through research and development initiatives, staying ahead of industry trends and emerging technologies to maintain a competitive edge.
  • The Vice President, Engineering will streamline and improve overall manufacturing efficiencies and process performances with an eye toward reducing the costs of direct labor, especially those areas where repetitive motion is a concern.


Configuration Management:

  • Work in close partnership with the Quality Assurance function to establish and maintain modern and rigorous quality control and configuration management processes to meet strict aerospace and defense industry regulations and certifications.


Budget and Resource Management:

  • Establish and oversee engineering resources, budgets, priorities, and project timelines so as to optimize resource allocation and strategic investments in people, technology, and tools.
  • Oversee and direct all formal engineering efforts of the business, including the coordination of the planning, scheduling, and budgeting related to all engineering activities. This includes regular interfaces with company leadership, suppliers, customers, and external forums.
  • The Vice President, Engineering will streamline and improve overall manufacturing efficiencies and process performances with an eye toward reducing the costs of direct labor, especially those areas where repetitive motion is a concern.


Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Collaborate with other functions, such as environmental, health & safety, manufacturing, supply chain, and sales / marketing, to ensure seamless product development and delivery, as well as responsiveness and agility.


Organizational Capability:

  • Promote education, training, and development, and identify new talent adds to continuously enhance the team skills. Work with employees to set goals and objectives in alignment with the company’s strategy.
  • Prepare a vision that significantly upgrades the company’s ability to deploy next-generation level of manufacturing processes, equipment, documentation, tools, and people to sustain the company into the future.
  • This role must endeavor to retain the best traits of the family-owned company and culture while also building a cutting-edge, enduring, and regenerative engineering function.


Regulatory Compliance:

  • Ensure that all engineering processes and products meet all relevant regulatory requirements and certifications specific to our customer requirements, as well as those of our industry.


Risk Management:

  • Identify and mitigate engineering-related risks, proactively addressing potential issues to maintain the integrity of the team, our products, and our services.
  • Support the implementation of risk evaluation, tracking, and reduction methodology in line with industry and customer norms such as PFMEA.
  • Maintain and continuously improve the safety of our workplaces through practical approaches that support production.
  • Ensure Click Bond maintains compliance with all regulations and with its AS / ISO and customer quality standards, with an expectation of exceeding customer expectations during audits.


ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES:

  • Maintain active relationships externally, as well as participate in the appropriate industry groups, associations, technical affiliate committees, and technology exploration platforms to continue expanding his or her knowledge, as well as influence the overall trajectory of the industry.
  • Report immediately all suspicious and hazardous conditions.
  • Understand and observe all safety guidelines and assure quality and safety by complying with all appropriate CBI policies and procedures.
  • Assist in maintaining clean, orderly and hazard-free work areas.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to demonstrate the following competencies:

  • Knowledge of modern best practices in the design and delivery of engineering solutions, including component design and manufacturing is imperative.
  • Outstanding engineering leadership experience in teaching, inspiring, developing, and leading people and cultivating collaboration and teamwork.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead through inspiration and effective communication and engagement.
  • Strong business acumen and domain-specific knowledge of the industry, including a deep understanding of the company’s customer base, core technical solutions and services, position in the supply chain, and core manufacturing capabilities and processes.
  • Operational understanding of model-based engineering and digital technologies as well as the information technology infrastructure that enables digital transformation.
  • Breadth and depth of knowledge in the design and manufacture of advanced components and engineering services for high-performance platforms.
  • Demonstrated experience leading organizations through large-scale change management initiatives that influence culture, define tools and processes, and improve competencies.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal, project-management, and presentation skills.
  • Strong focus on teamwork and internal/external customer satisfaction.
  • Demonstrated expertise in modern approaches to configuration management and consistent alignment and compliance with all relevant regulations, industry standards, and customer requirements.
  • Well-developed critical thinking and problem-solving skills both at the strategic and tactical levels. Highly proactive in seeking out and reviewing data to make informed decisions to achieve business goals.
  • Must be highly skilled in anticipating opportunities, technologies, and trends in the industry that will impact our products, processes, and people.
  • Appreciation and awareness of engineering tools, drafting software, methods, and automation solutions to attain the highest levels of design and manufacturing productivity.
  • Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities simultaneously, including facilitating activities necessary to achieve objectives and project completion. Able to perform Return on Investment (ROI) analysis and provide resulting recommendations.
  • Experience evaluating similar product lines and leading production rationalization initiatives.
  • Demonstrated prior success in leading and developing teams, maximizing potential and achieving strong results by enabling others.
  • Must be able to manage multidisciplinary, cross-functional, and/or global teams from idea generation to implementation.
  • Ability to effectively present information, concepts, and solutions in one-on-one and group situations to customers, employees, and other constituencies.
  • Self-directed, positive, and ethical role model able to work with minimal direction.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.


EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Industrial, Mechanical, Electrical, etc.) required. An advanced degree in a relevant field is strongly preferred.
  • At least 10 years of engineering people leadership experience, with preference given to those in manufacturing or equivalent sectors in the transportation, maritime, and/or aerospace industry and related supply chain.
  • A track record of successful leadership, teambuilding skills, product development and innovation.
  • In-depth knowledge of aerospace and defense standards, regulations, and certifications.


MATHMATICAL SKILLS:

  • Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations, as well as the ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.
  • Must have a strong background in statistical analysis, especially understanding sources of variation and the effect of variation on sample populations.


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Place a focus on the continual education, leadership development, and exposure of the engineering teams to the realities of all aspects of the business especially the manufacturing floor and the regular dissemination of key results and findings to leadership on an ongoing basis.
