What You Will Do

The Vice President of Education is responsible for the strategy, direction and success of the Matrix and Pulp Riot Education departments, ensuring they are fully aligned with the business goals to drive brand growth ambition. This position directly oversees the Matrix Training and Field Education teams and the Pulp Riot Education team. This position also works cross-functionally with Matrix/Pulp Riot Marketing teams, PPD Commercial teams, and SalonCentric Omni Education.

Key Responsibilities Include

  • Visionary Leadership: Develop and implement a compelling education strategy that aligns with and amplifies the brand strategy, establishing the brand as a leading voice in education within the professional beauty industry.
  • Strategic Partnership & Content Customization: Collaborate closely with DMI to identify US-specific education needs. Adapt and translate global DMI education content to resonate with the US audience, ensuring relevance and effectiveness.
  • 360-Degree Education Excellence: Drive consistency across all pillars of education for brand, including curriculum, artist recruitment, training, field education deployment, and shows/events. Additionally, ensure consistency of education excellence across all channels (local, stores, street, state RDA, Digital Edu, prolab, shows/events).
  • Data-Driven Impact & Sales Alignment: Establish clear and measurable objectives for all education initiatives, directly linking them to sales growth and brand objectives. Analyze program effectiveness, track key performance indicators, and implement data-driven refinements to optimize impact and ROI.
  • Stylist/Customer-Centric Approach: Demonstrate a deep understanding of both hairdresser and consumer needs within the professional beauty landscape. Develop nuanced and tailored education approaches that recognize the unique requirements of retail and color segments (with a strong emphasis on color education for professional stylists, approximately 90%).

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 12y of education and/or professional beauty industry experience
  • Job Specific Experience/Skills
    • Education Authority: Demonstrates deep knowledge of stylist education needs, best practices in adult learning and facilitation, emerging trends, and the evolving professional beauty landscape.
    • Influential Leader: Leads and inspires cross-functional teams, both in-person and remote, fostering a culture of collaboration and high performance.
    • Strategic Thinker: Translates data and insights into actionable strategies that drive business growth and achieve measurable results.
    • Business Acumen: Possesses strong commercial instincts and a proven track record of exceeding sales targets and managing budgets effectively.
    • Communication: Possesses excellent oral and written communication skills
    • Strong computer skills, including MS Excel/Word/PowerPoint
    • Strong organizational and time management skills
    • Ability to travel, which may be significant at certain times of the year (40%)
    • Position is based in NY Office at Hudson Yards

    Preferred Qualifications

    • College degree preferred.
    • Cosmetology license preferred.
