Vice President, Controller & Treasurer

Jetta Operating Company is seeking a Controller to join our executive Management Team as Vice President, Controller & Treasurer, reporting to the Chief Financial Officer. Based in downtown Fort Worth, this role includes oversight and leadership of all accounting and treasury activities of Jetta and its oil and gas businesses.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversees employees responsible for all accounting and treasury activities.
  • Proactively manages performance of direct reports, giving regular feedback.
  • Fosters career and skill development of department team members in support of their aspirations.
  • Continually seeks opportunities for organization efficiencies and cross-functional process and systems optimization.
  • Establishes departmental goals and ensures group performance toward the successful completion.
  • Provides guidance and expertise to other departments related to accounting matters.
  • Proactively collaborates with other departments on new ventures, ensuring timely consideration of support needs.
  • Implements internal control policies and procedures for accounting and cash activities.
  • Collaborates with external auditors and tax firms.
  • Responsible for day-to-day bank relations and maintaining appropriate levels of cash.
  • Determines and ensures monthly cash distributions are handled timely and with accuracy.
  • Prepares consolidated financial and cash reports by period.
  • Reviews monthly GLO and severance tax reports. Ensures reports are issued timely.
  • Approves new vendor set ups and ACH requests, following internal control procedures.
  • Reviews changes for owner accounts requested by Land and updates in accounting system.
  • Oversees yearly 1099 and ad valorem tax process.
  • Maintains knowledge of organizational procedures, federal and state regulations, and accounting standards.

Qualifications:

  • Certified Public Accountant designation required.
  • Minimum 10 years related experience.
  • Strong understanding of the Oil & Gas industry required, preferably upstream operations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent management and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to effectively lead cross-functional projects.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software, especially Excel.
  • Knowledge of accounting systems.
  • Experience leading change a plus.
  • Experience with accounting system and process migration / implementation a plus.
