Arsenal Biosciences Inc. is a clinical-stage programmable cell therapy company engineering advanced CAR T therapies for solid tumors. We are seeking a talented and experienced VP/CIO to work onsite/hybrid based in our South San Francisco office.

ArsenalBio’s mission is to develop efficacious and safe cellular therapies for patients with chronic diseases, initially cancer. As the Chief Information Officer (CIO), your role encompasses implementing a thorough information systems strategy that harmonizes with our business objectives and bolsters our expansion strategies. You'll oversee the technical dimensions of enterprise information, guaranteeing resilient cybersecurity protocols across our digital infrastructure. Additionally, you'll spearhead and oversee our systems personnel, ensuring seamless project execution and upkeep to drive efficiency and effectiveness.

What You’ll Do

  • Identify and evaluate the latest information technologies/systems by analyzing and addressing their potential for strategic advantage and business impact.
  • Oversee the development and implementation of the organization's information technical architecture, infrastructure and software solutions, that ensure scalability, security, and reliability.
  • Effectively collaborate closely with executive leadership, business units, and stakeholders to understand their information technology/systems needs and drive information technology-enabled business initiatives that are aligned with business goals.
  • Provide strong leadership and guidance to the information systems teams that fosters a culture of collaboration and continuous learning.
  • Maintain existing systems and initiatives to enhance our products, services and processes for optimum efficiency.
  • Manage productive relationships with information technology/system vendors and partners, evaluating and selecting the most suitable solutions and services.
  • Create and manage the information systems budget, optimizing resource allocation and ensuring cost-effective solutions.

Immediate focus areas:

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive enterprise information technology/systems strategy tailored to the company's business objectives, scalability, security and operational efficiency.
  • Oversee the design and implementation of robust technical architectures, ensuring alignment with business requirements, security standards and industry’s best practices.
  • Establish and maintain efficient and reliable information technology operations, including systems infrastructure, network, data management and security protocols for high performance, and data integrity.
  • Develop and implement disaster recovery plans and business continuity strategies.
  • Identify and mitigate information technology-related risks, ensuring data privacy and security regulations compliance. Develop and implement strategies to mitigate risks and protect sensitive data.

Who You Are

  • A Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, information security, cybersecurity or a related field, an Advanced degree is preferred.
  • 15+ years of experience in a combination of risk management, information security,information technology fields and 5+ years of experience as a technology/systems officer or in a similar senior technology/systems leadership role, preferably in a biotech or pharmaceutical company.
  • Knowledge of regulatory and compliance frameworks relevant to the biotech and pharma industry. GXP systems experience is required. Financial systems experience is required.
  • Relevant certifications such as IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL), Project Management Professional PMP, Certification from a provider, e.g., AWS, Google Cloud or Microsoft Azure, and/or Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP).
  • Possess a strong foundation in technology, with a deep understanding of software development, IT infrastructure, cloud computing, cybersecurity, and emerging technology trends.
  • Demonstrated success in managing IT infrastructure, IT budgets, and systems architecture.
  • Proficient in risk mitigation and data security of digital assets and in collaborating and communicating to management, legal, the board and board’s committees about such risk mitigation and data security.
  • Experience driving digital transformation initiatives and implementing data-driven decision-making with a proven track record of successfully leading large-scale technology/systems projects, delivering results on time and within budget.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and develop high-performing systems teams.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to leverage data and insights for informed decision-making.
  • Ability to think strategically and tactically, develop, communicate, and translate business objectives into system initiatives.

The estimated base salary for the preferred primary location of the San Francisco Bay area ranges from $293,900 - $350,000 . Salary ranges for other locations may vary. Base pay offered may vary based on job related knowledge, experience, education, and location. In addition to these factors, we believe in the importance of pay equity and consider internal equity of our current employees as part of any final offer.
