Phipps Houses is one of the nation’s oldest and largest not-for-profit developer/owners of affordable housing. It is a multi-faceted real estate organization, involved in the development, finance, construction and asset management of new and rehabilitated multi-family housing for low to middle income New Yorkers. Through its subsidiary, Phipps Houses Services, Inc., it conducts residential and some commercial property management, and it’s tax exempt affiliate, Phipps Neighborhoods, provides human services to its development communities.

Salary range is $165k to $185k

Position Description

As the VP of Business Systems, you will provide leadership, vision, management, and direction across all departments within Phipps, as it relates to IT Business Systems. This individual will be responsible for the Company’s information technology applications systems, will be a visionary in tracking, vetting, and implementing software relevant to the real estate industry, and can maximize efficiency for the Company. We are seeking a self-starter, charismatic leader, able to independently drive strategic initiatives and lead a team of highly skilled IT Professionals.

Primary Function

• Lead innovation discussions with Executive team, effectively communicating product and technology changes as it would pertain to and benefit the Company
• Deliver creative technology solutions to the Company’s portfolio from idea inception, development, implementation, and evaluation
• Identify modernization and implement technological initiatives that will aid in the continued success of the Company
• Oversee implementation and ongoing support of new technology to ensure high performance
• Stay on top of technology trends, researching new and upcoming trends in the Real Estate industry
• IT systems design and set up for multiple locations
• Monitor and recommend software solutions for leasing and property management software, construction and development, asset management and affordable housing
• Provide leadership in identifying creative solutions, ensuring that they are consistent with the Company’s vision
• Lead the Business systems group, developing training and structure for the team
• Develop and maintain the operating budget for the IT department, managing all resources, operational enhancement programs, and procurement processes
• Ensure all hardware and software solutions being used, or recommended, are appropriate and provide the best functions for the Company’s needs
• Communicate effectively with IT department, and other department heads to answer questions and resolve major outstanding network issues
  
  

Desired Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in a Senior IT position (Director or higher) in multi-family real estate (affordable housing strongly preferred)
• Extensive background in Yardi Systems
• Ability to effectively communicate complex technical information to non-technical experts
• Proven track record of successful project idea generation and execution
• Proven experience leading a team and strong leadership ability
• Ability to conceptualize and accomplish long term business objectives
• Outstanding written and oral communication skills
• Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or Engineering, Management Information Sciences, or a related field
