Vice Chair of Imaging Informatics at the University of Alabama at Birmingham

Responsibilities

The Department of Radiology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) seeks a self-motivated, energetic, curious, and technologically savvy individual to serve as Vice Chair for Imaging Informatics. The qualified candidate will lead the division of Imaging Informatics within the department of Radiology and be responsible for collaboration with department leadership to identify and oversee implementation of processes and systems that ensure patient safety and optimize radiologist efficiency and job satisfaction. Additionally, this person will work directly with the executive administrator to develop business analytics programs to drive operational efficiency in radiology. Responsibilities also include:

  • Directly supervising the director of imaging informatics to ensure that goals defined in the strategic plan are met and that all IT related operations run smoothly and seamlessly
  • Annually develop a capital and operational budget with the director of imaging informatics and assist departmental leadership in prioritizing requests and support
  • Partner with personnel in the health system information services and other departments to continue to expand the department's central role in managing clinical imaging data and radiologic data across the institution

Interpersonal and leadership skills are key as this individual will work closely with faculty members, serve on the chair's cabinet, and cultivate close collaborations across UAB.
