Van Driver

This is a Casual Seasonal position (as needed by the District). This position reports to the Supervisor of Transportation.

Essential Functions

  • Possess a current driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Current authorized Fleet driver or willing to become one.
  • Effective communicator and easily able to follow multi-step directions.
  • Must be willing to transport students to and from school.
  • Clean and refuel vans as needed.
  • Maintain order and discipline in an effective and courteous manner among students being transported in accordance with district policies and procedures; reports any incidents involving student discipline.
  • Observe and track route timing for increased efficiency and consistency.
  • Maintain and submit records and reports at required times.
  • Follow procedures to ensure no child is left alone on a van without an adult present.
  • Inventory and monitor emergency first aid kits to ensure all vans are fully stocked.
  • Perform other related tasks as assigned.

SALARY: $17.00 per hour. Individuals are paid only for hours worked and will not receive pay for District holidays.

Pre-employment Requirements

  • Transportation employees are subject to a pre-employment drug test and physical.
  • All persons employed by the Caesar Rodney School District are required to submit a criminal background check and a tuberculosis test.
  • Anyone offered employment is required to provide the following: proper identification (Social Security Card and Driver’s License), documentation of eligibility for employment in the U.S.A., completion of I-9 form, and completion of paperwork for the Delaware Child Protection Registry.
