The Valve Technician is responsible for the disassembly, cleaning, inspection, repair, and assembly of steam turbine valves in conformance with the Company’s requirements for safety, cost, schedule, and quality.
Key Responsibilities:
Calculate dimensions or tolerances of workpieces, products, or equipment, using instruments such as micrometers or vernier calipers
Measure dimensions of completed products or workpieces to verify conformance to specifications
Operate cutting/grinding equipment
Dismantle, inspect, and assemble machinery and equipment using: hoists, cranes, chain falls, hand tools, power tools, pneumatic and hydraulic tools, micrometers, rules, squares, and/or dial indicators
Study sample parts, blueprints, drawings, or engineering information to determine methods or sequences of operations needed to fabricate products
Confer with engineering, supervisory, or manufacturing personnel to exchange technical information
Fit and assemble parts to make or repair machine tools
Operate welding equipment
Support projects from planning and fabrication through assembly, inspection, and testing, using knowledge of machine functions, metal properties and mathematics
Dispose of scrap or waste material in accordance with company policies and environmental regulations
Ensure that time is documented accurately within the production management system
Interface with Supervisor and/or Project Engineering to understand all aspects of the project (technical, scheduling, extra work, cost, etc.). Coordinate with Project Engineering and Supervisor to ensure schedule conformance and identify bottlenecks
Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the work area and equipment
Maintains continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs
Documents actions by completing production and quality logs
Accomplishes organization goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments
Perform all work within OSHA and Company safety standards. Report to Supervisor when the safety training and PPE necessary to complete assigned work tasks is insufficient.
Perform other duties as required to support the business
Position Requirements:
Perform preventive and emergency maintenance/repair of machines and equipment as instructed by Supervisor. Ensure that all maintenance activities are documented on the appropriate maintenance log.

Education and Experience:
High School diploma or equivalent
Minimum one (1) year of experience maintaining, dismantling, and installing machinery or industrial service equipment including various pumps, motors, fans, generators, and turbines
Trade school or vocational training preferred but not required
Manual machining experience preferred but not required
