Job Description:

This is a remote position with Aquent Studios supporting our client on the East Coast.

This is an hourly, long-term position and would work remotely on EST hours.

ABOUT THIS ROLE

We are looking for an experienced UX Architect to support the Design Systems team of an industry leading tech client for Aquent Studios. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in shaping the foundation of the information architecture (IA) across the product suite. Your expertise in content modeling,strategy, both frontend and backend structures, and design systems will be crucial in informing a scalable and cohesive user journey.


You will work with the internal Design Strategy team to ensure their vision can be seamlessly implemented through a scalable and cohesive user journey. Additionally, you will collaborate withbackend engineers, Design Systems engineers, and the Design Systems leadership to ensure feasibility for implementation.


ABOUT YOU


Technical curiosity


● Possess an in-depth understanding of various technologies for Web and app products and have experience in programming languages/frameworks to collaborate with engineering teams.

● Provide system strategies when designing for complex interfaces.

● Maintain a curious mindset to understand what makes our product come to life (how things are built).



Content modeling & IA


● Conduct a detailed audit and analysis of the end-to-end product and content experience from both the backend and front- end perspective.

● Develop comprehensive content models that capture the structure, relationships, and taxonomies of the digital content.


● Ensure optimal content organization that aligns with the product and technology strategy.

● Collaborate with the Design Strategy and UX research teams to gather insights and feedback, informing content modeling. In some cases, you may conduct unmoderated research yourself.

● Translate research findings into actionable design recommendations and strategies.

● Leverage content modeling techniques to create logical structures to organize the product’s content (entities), defining relationships between different pieces of information and how they all connect.

● Collaborate with cross-functional team leads, including designers, developers, and content design strategist, to ensure the successful adoption and implementation of the content model.

● Design intuitive information architecture that facilitates seamless navigation and content discoverability, aligning with user goals and business objectives.

● Collaborate with UX and development teams to translate content models into technically feasible components and modules.

● Create an end-to-end sitemap of all app and web pages.

● Create information hierarchy to strategically organize and prioritize page content ensuring an intuitive layout that effectively communicates the most critical information first.

● Create wireframes and low-fidelity prototypes for internal UX teams to use as an architectural reference for designing our product.



Design Systems Architect


● Architect the design system to be responsive and uphold accessibility standards.

● Collaborate closely with developers to ensure seamless implementation and integration.

● Evolve design principles, guidelines, and best practices to ensure a cohesive and consistent user experience across all touch-points while keeping up with industry trends.

● Drive the evolution and governance of our design systems, ensuring consistency and scalability across platforms and products.

● Enable flexibility for experimentation while planning for future iterations.



BASIC QUALIFICATIONS


● Has 7+ years of experience in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), User Experience Design, or a related field.

● Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.

● Understands and has demonstrated proficiency in object-oriented design as a UX Architect, Content Architect, Information Architect, or a similar role in user experience design with a strong background in content modeling and design systems.

● Deep understanding of user-centered design principles, design patterns, design methodologies, and best practices.

● Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with a key eye for detail.

● Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to articulate complex concepts through a non-technical language.

● Proficiency in wire-framing, prototyping, and design tools such as Figma, Sketch, Principle, and other similar design applications.




PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS


● Proficient in creating and maintaining design systems, including component libraries and usage guidelines.


● Proficient in moderated research tools like usertesting.com

● Enjoys reading and occasionally writing technical guidelines for non-technical audiences.

● Knowledge of coding and development practices is a plus. Having some front-end development skills (HTML, CSS, Javascript, UIKit, Compose), can be beneficial for understanding the technical implementation of design systems and collaborating with developers.

● Passion for staying up-to-date with the latest trends, techniques, and technologies in the field of user experience design.

Compensation Range: $80-85/hr

The range provided is our reasonable estimate of the compensation for this role. The actual amount may be higher or lower, based on factors such as experience, knowledge, skills, abilities and location.
