Utility Coordinator III:Coordinates and performs technical work related to new utility installations and state and federally funded utility adjustments and relocations. Work requires considerable contact with private entities and governmental agencies. Employees at this level establish their own work plan and priorities to meet set objectives. Issues are rarely referred to the supervisor but are handled at the occurrence.
Essential Duties:
Utility Coordinator I:
Utility Coordinator I/II:High School Grad or Equivalent in general education.
Utility Coordinator III: Bachelor's Degree in any discipline. Relevant work experience may be substituted for degree on a year per year basis. Substitutions for Minimum Qualifications
Experience:
Utility Coordinator I:None
Utility Coordinator II:1 year in utility, transportation, or construction-related activities
Utility Coordinator III:2 years of experience in utility, transportation or construction-related activities. (Experience can be satisfied by fulltime or prorated parttime equivalent). Related graduate level education may be substituted for experience on a year per year basis.
Licenses and Certifications: Valid driver’s license. This position requires driving a state vehicle.

Essential Duties:
Utility Coordinator I:
- Assists in researching problems and coordinating solutions regarding potential utility conflicts and reimbursements; prepares correspondence.
- Assists with establishing and coordinates activities between the Department, federal agencies, utility companies and other entities.
- Assists with review and processing of new utility installation permits
- Assists with implementing and interpreting Department policies and procedures as related to utility adjustments, relocations, negotiations, reimbursements and compliance with applicable state and federal laws.
- Meets with utility representatives and other entities to explain the utility accommodation policy and relocation and reimbursement processes, negotiate, answer questions to resolve problems.
- Monitors the installation/removal, adjustment or relocation of utilities
- Prepares, processes, and maintains documents, references and/or resource materials.
- Enters and maintains, with supervision, the electronic documentation and data in TxDOT systems are accurate and up-to-date.
- Reviews current projects for progress and pending projects for planning purposes; advises and trains others on policies and procedures.
- May serve as the liaison with and coordinates activities between the Department, federal agencies, utility companies, and other entities.
- Implements and interprets Department policies and procedures as they relate to utility adjustments, relocations, negotiations, reimbursements and compliance with applicable state and federal laws.
- Coordinates, reviews and processes new utility installation permits.
- Maintains liaison with and serves in a consultative capacity between the Department, federal agencies, utility companies, other entities and/or title companies.
- Serves as a Department expert in program responsibilities.
- Trains other employees.
- Ensures electronic documentation and data in TxDOT systems are accurate and up-to-date.
- Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.
