Job Overview

As a Senior Underwriter with us, you'll play a pivotal role in managing a portfolio of high-complexity business accounts. You'll be recognized as an expert in your field, collaborating closely with senior management to drive strategic initiatives and ensure the highest standards of underwriting excellence. Your responsibilities will encompass a blend of analytical assessment, business development, and relationship management within your specialized area of focus.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough analysis and evaluation of high-complexity underwriting risks, utilizing advanced diagnostic tools and methodologies.
  • Develop tailored endorsement solutions for intricate risks, demonstrating a keen understanding of market dynamics and compliance requirements.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to shape underwriting policies, marketing strategies, and business development initiatives.
  • Adapt corporate strategies to align with regional dynamics, fostering consensus and driving successful outcomes.
  • Monitor the quality, quantity, and profitability of underwritten risks, presenting insightful reports to senior stakeholders.
  • Engage in proactive marketing and relationship-building activities with agencies and brokerage firms, ensuring positive outcomes for key clients.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, regulatory changes, and market developments, sharing knowledge and insights within the organization.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior underwriters, contributing to their professional development and growth.
  • Lead special projects and deliver impactful presentations as needed.

Reporting Structure

Reporting to Director level or above.

Skills And Qualifications

  • Exceptional expertise in underwriting principles, with a focus on specialized areas of insurance.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and presentation skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Proficient analytical skills and the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.
  • Comfortable navigating ambiguity and finding innovative solutions to complex challenges.
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities and a proactive approach to achieving business objectives.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and relevant business software.

Education And Experience

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience; professional designations are desirable.
  • Minimum of ten years of underwriting experience, with a proven track record of delivering results.
