Old Republic Inland Marine (ORIM) is a specialist underwriting company providing world-class products and services for a wide range of inland marine classes.


Position Summary:

Under the direction of the Vice President of Underwriting and under the guidance of the Vice President of Operations, the Inland Marine Underwriter will be responsible for performing general account maintenance, loss analysis and will be granted limited underwriting authority. This role will also be responsible for clearing submissions and inputting exposure information into ORIM’s policy management system to prepare new business quotes for the senior underwriting team.


Your Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate new submissions for completeness; request information as needed and communicate to senior underwriters and brokers the need for additional information (exposure, loss and general account data, etc.)
  • Management of existing Inland Marine underwriting portfolio including day to day account management responsibilities.
  • Investigate operations of the insured (identify changes and detail the programs structure of accounts, record data points of the accounts, etc.) to execute the setup of underwriting documentation forms.
  • Input raw exposure data into our company specific rating systems.
  • Assist with the set up and tracking of assignments for all accounts.
  • Develop key relationships and provide support to ORIM underwriting and operations teams.
  • Any necessary Travel (up to 15%)


Your Qualifications:

  • Associate’s Degree required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of two to five years of commercial insurance experience.
  • Strong planning and organization skills; ability to maintain accurate records.
  • Strong communication skills on multiple platforms.
  • Ability to multi-task paired with strong time management skills.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Products.
  • Must be able to make informed decisions and effectively meet deadlines.
  • Attention to detail; accurate proofreading skills.
  • Flexibility and tenacity; Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
