JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Materials Design and Optimization Division of the Applied Research Laboratory at Penn State is seeking undergraduates interested in a wide range of topics focused on the design, analysis, fabrication, and testing of advanced materials and material systems.

Typical Duties could include activities such as:

  • Design and analysis using tools such as Siemans NX, Solidworks, Ansys, and Abaqus
  • Fabrication of composite systems using additive manufacturing, filament winding, and vacuum assisted resin transfer among others
  • Testing and characterization using techniques such as computed tomography (CT) and ultrasonic inspection, mechanical testing, shearography, etc.

Successful candidates will receive hands on experience that will give them the edge in today’s competitive job market.
