Job Title: Traveling Construction Superintendent II

While our headquarters are in Wichita, Kansas, we operate in over 34 states. We're currently seeking a Superintendent based in or near Springfield, Missouri, to oversee several projects in the Springfield metropolitan area. After completing these local projects, the role will involve travel to other locations.
Position Overview
As a Superintendent II, you will lead field construction activities and personnel, ensuring projects meet budget, schedule, quality, and safety objectives. This role requires extensive knowledge of construction methods, materials, tools, and equipment, as well as familiarity with building codes and OSHA safety standards. Strong experience in ground-up construction and petroleum/gas station projects is highly desired.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee and coordinate all on-site construction activities
Collaborate with project managers and client representatives to ensure work complies with specifications and local codes
Review submittals and manage RFIs
Monitor and communicate site conflicts, schedule changes, and quality issues
Assist in negotiating claims and change orders
Manage project equipment needs and maintenance
Maintain site safety and cleanliness
Coordinate with subcontractors to ensure adherence to schedules and quality standards
Facilitate weekly safety meetings and ensure proper use of protective equipment
Submit detailed daily reports on job progress, safety concerns, and expenses
Mentor junior team members, including Project Engineers, Foremen, and Carpenters
Perform project close-out tasks and participate in post-project reviews
Requirements
High School diploma or GED
Residence in or near Springfield, Missouri
Willingness to travel nationwide
Ability to read blueprints
OSHA 30 certification
5+ years of experience in Commercial Ground-Up Construction
Proficiency in Divisions 1-16
Fuel/Petroleum or Restaurant construction experience highly desired
Physical ability to perform job-related tasks, including lifting up to 50 lbs and moving up to 100 lbs
Travel Expectations
This role requires extensive travel. While on assignment, you can expect to return home twice per month, or as often as the project schedule allows. When working near your home base, more frequent returns may be possible. Please note that job locations vary and are assigned based on availability and project needs.
