This position performs a wide range of professional planning duties for pavement surface condition data management, analysis, reporting, and coordination needed to support federal, state, and department monitoring, analysis, reporting and planning functions. Primary responsibilities include developing, executing, maintaining and documenting GIS procedures to plan, monitor, verify and evaluate vendor collection performance and data quality. Additional responsibilities include assisting verification checks of vendor equipment accuracy, preparing/supporting data access & reporting to end customers and supporting the unit’s administration & coordination of the vendor data collection contract.

The "Salary" listed above is a range that reflects the minimum rate at the entry (9) level through the maximum rate at the experienced (P11) level. Based on education and experience, candidates will be reviewed to determine what level they are qualified for.

Required Education And Experience
Education
Possession of a bachelor's degree in any major with at least 30 semester (45 term) credits in one or a combination of the following: planning (city, community, environmental, regional, and/or urban), environmental studies and/or sustainability, environmental sciences, engineering, statistics, mathematics, geography, geographic/geospatial information systems, logistics and/or supply chain management, or economics.
NOTE: We may consider applicants that will be obtaining a bachelor’s degree by August 31, 2024.
Experience
Transportation Planner 9
No specific type or amount is required.
Transportation Planner 10
One year of professional experience in the planning, mapping, or assessment of transportation, land use, environmental, or community systems equivalent to a Transportation Planner 9.
Transportation Planner P11
Two years of professional experience in the planning, mapping, or assessment of transportation, land use, environmental, or community systems equivalent to a Transportation Planner, including one year equivalent to a Transportation Planner 10.
MDOT Experience Preferred.
Pavement data management experience preferred.

Possession of a valid driver's license is required.
