About the Position

This is a fantastic opportunity for an ambitious individual motivated to continue growing as a logistics professional. You’ll be part of a dynamic team of committed and innovative professionals—where you’ll wear many different hats. As Logistics & Transportation Coordinator, you will be pivotal in purchasing, transportation planning, customer service, and vendor management. You will coordinate and manage the transportation and logistics operations within LKAB, including transportation routes and schedules, negotiating contracts with sales and vendors, and monitoring shipments. The ideal candidate will enjoy a collaborative, transparent, and international work environment, taking pride in delivering outstanding customer service while providing top-notch logistics support. This role is based out of LKAB’s US HQ in Chicago and reports directly to the President of North America.

What You’ll Be Doing More Specifically:

• Develop and implement logistics strategies to optimize transportation operations and improve overall efficiency.
• Plan and coordinate transportation routes and schedules to ensure timely deliveries.
• Negotiate contracts and rates with sales, vendors, and international freight.
• Monitor and track shipments to ensure they reach their destination on time and in good condition.
• Manage inventory levels and warehouse operations to support transportation activities.
• Analyze transportation data and metrics to identify areas of improvement and cost-saving opportunities.
• Ensure compliance with regulations and safety standards in transportation operations.
• Collaborate with other departments, such as procurement, sales, and inside sales, to meet customer demands and business objectives.
• Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders.
• Stay up to date with industry trends, technologies, and best practices to drive continuous improvement in transportation operations.
• Manage transportation budgets and expenses to meet financial targets.

What We Expect from You

Work Experience, Education, Skills, & Traits

• Bachelor's degree is preferred but not required.
• 2+ years of demonstrated logistics and transportation management experience with a global company.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and various business software.
• Demonstrated vendor management skills.
• Analytical, accurate, and organized.
• Outstanding customer service skills.
• Excellent English communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Ability to build and maintain strong, long-lasting vendor relationships.
• Pragmatic, high energy, and driven.
