Remote | Offices in Los Angeles & Houston

Join our team and build the furure of space technology

HEY! IMPORTANT! Please apply by email (see How to apply #9️⃣) and include an email about why the job speaks to you (See Cover letter #8️⃣). It's the most important thing, we need to know who you are and what you're about. It’s not your average job ad, and we're not looking for an average project “administrator”. Interested? Let's dig in.

1️⃣ Who We Are

GMV is a leading provider of Intelligent Transit Systems, specializing in supplying public transit agencies in the United States with cutting-edge hardware and software solutions for tracking buses. Our mission is to revolutionize public transportation by enhancing efficiency, reliability, and passenger satisfaction through innovative technology. We design, manufacture, and manage a variety of products and features, including driver interfaces, dispatch communications (both text and voice), passenger counters, announcers, GPS tracking, and reporting & data analytics. Additionally, we develop real-time information systems for riders ("Bus in 7 & 10 min"), including apps and digital signage found at bus stops. Our products are deployed in Public Transit Agencies across the country; they are our valued customers, and it's crucial to provide them with long-term support. The company has approximately 50 people in the US, including 5 highly skilled and experienced Project Managers, that report directly to our COO. We operate under the umbrella of a 3,000-person parent organization based in Europe, offering the best of both worlds: a small company atmosphere with the support of a larger organization. We operate fully remotely, with occasional offsites once or twice a year, and maintain physical offices in Downtown LA & Houston. You don’t need to be in either of these locales, but it’s preferred if you are.

2️⃣ This is a business, and we're here to serve customers

Our customers are public transit operators. Their customers are the transit riding public, which is often people who have far less than we do. Our job is to Make Transit Work for them. We take this mission very seriously, and to put it bluntly: we want team members who are here to solve problems and serve customers as our first and only priority. If you are looking for a cushy, easy job, or one with a lot of hand holding, this isn't the place for you. Our process is flexible, and we’re interested in constantly delivering value in whatever way works best for the situation at hand. If you want to be challenged and grow in a small team environment with high autonomy and see your work live on thousands of transit buses nationwide, then we are the team for you.

3️⃣ We’re hiring for your attitude

We value Project Engineers who take ownership of projects and truly desire to always give the best service and attention to our customers. Besides, our Project Engineer need the background and skills Inside a transit bus, we have at least 10 different types of hardware systems involved. Touchscreen terminals, laser passenger counters, automated announcement systems, LED and LCD screens for passenger information, network routers, etc. This is a complex system that requires careful expertise in installing and servicing. Our company has 10 people in field operations (that's your team), so let's discuss what that looks like. Your job is to coordinate the project level engineering and installation from A to Z. That means understanding the scope and preparing engineering deliverable work package, testing equipment before it goes out the door, traveling to the site, working with the client to get installation approvals, managing the junior techs and subcontractors to complete the install, demonstrating to what a quality install looks like, participating in the first few installs(usually at the beginning of the install), validating every component installed is as per standards and is healthy, packing up the materials, shipping them back to the warehouse. During your time at home base, you will be completing field reports, writing SOPs, redesigning small parts of our system and wiring harnesses to maintain continuous improvement and development, working with System integration on testing, preparing installation instructions for the scope of the project for each vehicle type

4️⃣ Heavy travel required (50% of the time)

Our clients run transit buses nationwide (we have 50+ locations). Your job will involve at least 50% travel, so please make sure you like to travel! Coordination with other departments (Procurement & Production, Field Services, SW Engineering, Product, etc.)

5️⃣ Skills that are desired to be successful in the role

  • Possesses Strong technical communicational and demonstrable abilities.
  • Understanding of low voltage systems and hands on experience with tools required to test/troubleshoot electrical basics on a transit vehicle.

6️⃣ OK OK we like to have fun too

Most of our work happens on Slack, and it's a playful environment. Once or twice a year we have offsites, and they're in fun places (our last one was in Vegas). We know this job description sounds all business, but our company is a small one with a great culture, and you're going to have fun being a part of it. Let us show you this during the interview process, we promise you won't be disappointed.

7️⃣ Pay And Benefits

  • Base salary up to $95,000
  • Generous bonus program (:10 % of the salary)
  • Generous health and dental benefits
  • Generous paid parental leave.
  • 401k plan w/match.
  • Flexible hours.

8️⃣ To apply, you must send more than a resume – we need to understand who you are

We don't need a basic sir or madam cover letter, but we do need to see you taking the application seriously, which means writing a note to us telling us why this job appeals to you. Just put it in your email to us. Some ideas for what it should include are: specifics about why your background (whatever it is) makes you well suited to this kind of role, an example of a time you fought for something a customer needed and delivered it, and what about our job specifically appeals to you. The letter you write for us will be 10 times more valuable than your resume in getting our attention. If you send just your resume, it is very unlikely we will respond (but we’d still love for you to attach it to your letter).
