Training Manager

Description

Preference will be given to California residents. Please note that relocation assistance is not available for these positions.

The Training Manager will collaborate with the Testing and Training Program Director to develop top-notch multicultural course content and training curriculum. Their focus is to teach training recipients how to train others using a "train-the-trainer" approach. The Training Manager will assess training needs, create customized training plans, and employ various training methods to improve employees' skills and performance. They will also monitor the effectiveness of the training program, manage budgets, and stay updated on the latest trends in the field.

  • Oversee training programs and report on progress, issues, and areas for improvement
  • Manages staff assigned to perform the training of equipment or training development, including in-person and virtual support
  • Responsible for contracting and managing strong working relationships with clients and key internal and external stakeholders
  • Leads coordination and integration of training efforts
  • Accountable for and directly supervises trainers by coaching and setting expectations and building goals that align with the company, department, and their personal development growth
  • Communicate and explain new directives, policies, or procedures to trainers
  • Projects a positive image of the organization to employees, customers, industry, and community
  • Collaborates effectively with California Connect team members and business partners to identify knowledge gaps and develop training content that addresses needs and expectations
  • Utilizes brand-centric principles and communication techniques to develop effective curricula and course content that best fits the needs of the learner
  • Stays current and relevant in educational technology, adult learning, and educational best practices
  • Serves as the main point of contact for internal and external partners contributing to curriculum content
  • Provide reporting to the leadership team on training activities, statistics and quality assurance data.
  • Works with information technology and automation tools, including Microsoft Office, SharePoint, Zoom, Slack and various LMS platforms
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

To perform the essential functions of this position successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies:

  • Proficient in operations management and training practices and principles
  • Ability to build and maintain working relationships with many different cross-functional teams
  • Excellent communication skills, an ability to be concise, and strong instincts on how to communicate most effectively with partners/requestors, such as when to reach out by email vs by phone
  • A strong balance of leadership, business acumen, and technical skills
  • Easily adaptable to a rapidly changing, fast-paced environment and highly responsive to client and consumer issues, concerns and demands
  • Demonstrated effective problem-solving skills
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities from inception to completion
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc.)
  • Ability to?build and supervise high-performance, remote work teams

Qualifications

  • A minimum of three (3) years of experience within the past ten (10) years, leading and managing the development of self-administered computer-based training.
  • A minimum of one (1) year of experience developing training courseware that teaches training recipients how to train others (i.e. a “train-the-trainer” model).
  • A minimum of two (2) years of experience administering a learning management system (LMS).
  • Ability to communicate effectively using American Sign Language (preferred)
