Summary

Under the guidance of the Training Officer and in compliance with established policies, procedures and regulations, this position will develop and maintain curriculum. Responsible for training employees to comprehend policies, procedures, use of certain Bank software and programs while improving overall knowledge, skills, accuracy and performance through classroom and in-window training. This position requires employees to work on-site.

QUALIFICATIONS | EDUCATION | EXPERIENCE | SKILLS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • High School Diploma or GED Required.
  • Associate degree Preferred.
  • Required (3 years minimum):
    • Banking experience, or
    • Professional teaching experience where strong communication skills and ability to assess students/employees were used. Adaptability in reviewing course material to determine what needs to be adjusted if it isn’t “clicking” with some learners, or
    • Professional experience as a Trainer which included advanced research and technology skills.
  • Preferred (2 years minimum):
    • Appointed to train/mentor retail staff on bank protocol, operational processes, policies, and procedures.
    • Management or Supervisory experience.
HOURS OF AVAILABILITY: Regularly Scheduled Hours/Week: 40 hours per week | Monday- Friday 8:00am-5:00pm | Occasional Sunday Afternoons | *Extended working hours may be required.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Maintain strict privacy regarding customer account information. Maintain customer confidence and protect bank operations by keeping information confidential.
  • Train staff to provide customers with exceptional customer service and execute operational excellence. In person: Greet every customer with a smile, maintain eye contact, call them by name, stay connected in conversation and let them know they are appreciated. When on the telephone: Speak with a smile, call them by name, stay connected in the conversation and let them know they are appreciated.
  • Develops, schedules, and implements approved training programs for new and existing employees. Assist in determining the most effective instructional method for a class while utilizing knowledge of adult learning theory. Ability to adapt to changing conditions and work assignments.
  • Create retail banking training curriculum and procedures, correspondence and supporting activities, and documentation using Word, Excel, PowerPoint, video editing software, Microsoft Teams, SharePoint (intranet), and other software as needed.
  • Coordinate and schedule training. Training may be over the phone, in-person at a training facility, a prearranged location, via email correspondence, or through a Teams video conferencing. Training attendance may be up to approximately 35 employees.
  • Problem solve and determine root causes of issues leading to solutions for performance gaps. Ability to identify needs and conceptualize how to meet those needs.
  • Prepare and organize for trainings, which may include:
    • Creating, organizing, copying, cutting, paperclipping and sorting transactions for Retail Bankers, Retail Banking Specialists, and other applicable training.
    • Balancing Retail drawers and internal software.
    • Printing and assembling manuals.
    • Making meal arrangements, which may also include taking employees to lunch.
    • Purchasing and unloading drinks, snacks, and supplies.
  • Upon completion of in-person class trainings: clean tables, retail area, equipment, vacuum, and put everything back after every training.
  • Build rapport with Retail Operations Managers, Banking Center Managers, Supervisors, and other key contacts across the state through email, telephone, Teams video conferencing and in-person communication. Apply interpersonal communication and motivational skills.
  • Must have a technical writer skill set and ability to:
    • Write in a clear and concise manner and be able to convey information appropriately for a variety of audiences.
    • Must be able to test and question the information you’ve written, and rewrite when necessary.
    • Ability to ask thought provoking questions and any follow-up questions needed to complete the writing assignment.
    • Must have strong listening skills.
    • Must be able to logically think through and complete the task at hand.
    • Must have an appreciation for graphics and formatting.
  • Assist training team with other various projects, development of curriculum, activities, PowerPoints, videos and additional Training Department duties and responsibilities as assigned. Initiative to enhance staff’s ability to achieve organizational goals and objectives.
  • Ability to travel to all First Security Bank markets and locations via a reliable personal vehicle. Extended working hours, occasional weekend travel and/or overnight consecutive nightly hotel stays may be required.
  • Must be able to work on multiple projects simultaneously, managing time and resources to ensure work is completed efficiently.
  • Demonstrating a good understanding of bank policies, procedures, and regulations is required.
  • Operate computer, keyboard, telephone, scanner, copier, printer, encoder, projector, TV, and other technology at a high level of understanding. Strong knowledge of MS Office Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, typing, 10-key and the internet. Proficiency with internal bank software will be required.
  • Must be able to arrive at work on time, work on-site, work independently, and work cooperatively with other co-workers.
  • Work location and/or additional duties may be assigned or required by management.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This job title has no supervisory responsibilities.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The employee must possess sufficient mobility to work in and move about in a standard office setting and sufficient hand, arm, and finger dexterity to operate a computer keyboard and other office equipment. Substantial time may be spent on the telephone and working on a computer, sitting and/or standing. The employee must have the ability to hear and articulate well enough to carry on a normal conversation, both in person and over the telephone. Visual abilities required by this job include the ability to read materials in either a printed format or on a computer screen. The employee must occasionally lift and move up to 50 pounds.

MENTAL DEMANDS

The duties of this position require the ability to maintain attention to detail and complete work projects accurately in a short amount of time, despite interruptions.
