Traffic Ops Supervisor

Position Summary

Traffic Ops Supervisor directs all activities in their shift in the Operations Office area to ensure the accurate completion and processing of airway bills, customs documents, resolution desk functions, flight documentation, logistics handling, clearance, and delivery of inbound and outbound cargo onto flights. Perform the following duties personally or through subordinate employees.

Job Responsibilities Include The Following, But Not Limited To

  • Directs Office Agents in expediting all import and export activities.
  • Communicates to management about necessities of training of personnel.
  • Directs staff in expediting export correspondence, air waybills, AES, transportation and exportation certificates, TSA, invoices, letter of instructions, customs documentation, and all other related documents.
  • Coordinating all import and export activities with internal and external customers.
  • Ensuring all shipment bookings are prioritized for flights.
  • Maintains current /updated information on the export and import tariffs, restrictions, procedures, and other regulatory organizations.
  • Distributes personnel per shift to ensure proper coverage and customer service levels.
  • Performs employee reviews, training, coaches, roll calls, counsels, and assist employees to perform at their highest potential.
  • Update and monitor attendance and employee timecard submissions.
  • Tracks performance against established standards for all activities under immediate supervision.
  • Conducts audits of employee performance, documentations, and aging report.
  • Ensures proper tools are assigned to the staff, along with equipment inventory up to date and in proper working conditions.
  • Participates in the hiring and terminations decisions with the department Manager.

Minimum Skills, Qualifications, Education And Experience

  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must exercise independent judgment to process required duties timely.
  • Able to work in Warehouse climate conditions
  • Must be able to communicate effectively in both English and Spanish.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as Bills of Lading and Airway Bills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must have good attention to detail, this includes continuously monitoring shipments from the point of receipt to delivery.
  • Ability to clearly communicate (verbally and written) with all levels of staff, vendors, and customers.
  • Must be up to date with Internal Company and Export Regulation requirements.
  • Must be familiar with computer programs although some training will be offered.
  • A self-starter attitude is required, must be able to work effectively with minimal to no supervision.
  • Organizational and problem-solving skills are always a plus.
  • Possess and maintain a valid Driver License and a driving record from the state of your primary residence that meets Amerijet’ s insurance standards. (required).
  • Completion of a pre-employment drug screen, comprehensive background check and/or fingerprinting to satisfy company and security requirements.
  • Must fulfill FAA criminal background checks to qualify for unescorted access privileges to airport security identification display areas (SIDA).
  • Legally eligible to work in the country in which the position is located.

Required Experience

  • Must be familiar with computer programs, i.e., Microsoft Office, AES, Edi trade, Cargo Operating systems, although some training will be offered.
  • A Minimum 2 years of related, Cargo air/ocean, Freight forwarders experience.
  • A minimum of 2 years of customer service background in place of direct of the required experience may be considered.
  • Minimum 1 year in a management level position.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position will not have direct reports but will require overseeing shift activities and providing training for new team members.

Language Skills

The employee must possess strong interpersonal and communications skills, be able to effectively present information, respond to questions, and proficiently write reports and business correspondence.

Physical Activities And Requirements Of The Position

Job duties include but are not limited to lifting, pulling, pushing, grasping, twisting (including wrists), reaching below and overhead, standing for long periods, squatting, bending, stooping, kneeling, climbing, and lifting heavy items. Warehouse climate conditions are subject to change without notice.

Mental, visual, and auditory acuity necessary to work with or near moving mechanical parts (i.e., cooler, dock equipment), in high, precarious places (i.e., ladder work), and cold/hot climate conditions. Ability to work in moderate and loud noise environments including, but not limited to: computers, human voices, sound systems, and machinery.
