Toxicologist
Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities
- Perform forensic toxicology investigations and analysis on a diverse array of matters, including those involving PFOS, PFAS and other contaminants
- Source identification of PCBs, PAHs, PFASs, organic and inorganic pesticides, heavy metals, and metalloids
- Determine the timing, sources, and mechanisms of contaminant releases and identify other potential sources of contamination
- Conduct toxicology analysis on cases involving PFOS, PFAS and various chemical and biological exposures
- Perform in depth pathway/network analysis on data derived from toxicology and other studies
- Extensive document review, analysis and interpretation
- Conduct unbiased investigations for various clients
- Provide technical findings and conclusions in laymen's terms, both verbally and in written reports
- Support conclusions by appropriate testimony in legal proceedings.
- Deliver professional presentations, develop client relationships and promote self to client groups
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies
- Ph.D. or M.P.H. in Public Health, Epidemiology, Toxicology, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Biochemistry, or related field is required
- Minimum of seven years of post-academic experience, specifically evaluating PFAS and PFOS in water
- Knowledge, training, or education in mathematics, epidemiology, chemistry, biostatistics, and/or risk assessment is preferred
- Exceptional written and verbal communication
- Experience interacting with pharmaceutical regulatory agencies is a plus
- Ability to work independently and as a member of a team
- Ability to effectively prioritize and manage multiple tasks and projects
- Strong commitment to professional development
- Strong writing and public speaking skills
- Ability to travel 25% of the time
- Ability to lift 25 lbs.
- Ability to drive to site locations
- Ability to travel by airline
