Position Description: Teacher on Special Assignment (TOSA)-Elementary/Middle School Program Specialist
CLASSIFICATION: Salary Based on Approved Certified Compensation Plan (Extended Work Calendar – 210 Days)
General Statement Of Responsibilities
The TOSA-ESS Program Specialist will be responsible for substantially and effectively assisting the ESS Director in the task of providing leadership and coordination of all special education programs - elementary and middle school level.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES: (essential functions)
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Five years of successful teaching experience required. Master’s Degree preferred. Educational administration certification preferred. Experience in supervision and administration preferred. Valid Arizona teaching or administrative certificate, Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES: (essential functions)
- Works with teachers on out of district placements (vouchers, private day, ASDB, PCSE, surrogate parents)
- Assist with Related Service providers (OT/PT/PSY/SLP/COOP vision and hearing screen)
- Assist teachers with testing, Post school outcomes data, test accommodations
- Assist teachers in the development of appropriate classroom interventions/strategies/assessment
- Assist with research to evaluate and improve educational opportunities for students
- Assist in developing program models that will allow all students to access general curriculum
- Mentor new teachers in areas of compliance and special education issues
- Develop and implement on-going staff development and training opportunities
- Develop and implement ongoing training opportunities for paraprofessionals
- Train staff on electronic accountability program
- Review and provide feedback to teachers on IEP/MET compliance issues
- Train staff on compliance issues
- Work with IT department to troubleshoot issues
- Assist teachers with entering student data in the electronic accountability program
- Develop IEP’s for the students placed through vouchers or out of district placements
- Performs other duties as assigned
