What We Are Looking For

The ideal candidate for this position will have extensive experience in the water heating or HVAC industry, primarily with tankless water heaters and/or boilers. The candidate would have a full understanding of water heating concepts and experience presenting those to specific audiences. This person must also understand troubleshooting products and installations of the units. The Territory Trainer directly supports Navien’s business operations. Therefore, essential attributes include excellent communication and interpersonal skills and an ability to multitask and remain focused in high-pressure situations. In addition, the candidate must be highly self-motivated and able to work independently, including in critical areas requiring the exercise of discretion and independent judgment, have a positive attitude and be resourceful and enthusiastic about training and continued growth. This position will cover the following region: ND, SD, MN, WI, NE, IA, Eastern MO, IL, MI, IN, OH, KY, Western PA, and WV


Responsibilities:

  • Conduct various levels and types of Academy & external trainings, from sales to technical training programs involving Navien products, installation, troubleshooting and service throughout the region
  • Use discretion and independent judgment to evaluate and determines training objectives, assists in writing/developing training programs that will best support Navien’s business operations, modifying training programs as needs arise, including outline, text, handouts, and tests, and design exercises where applicable.
  • Trains on safety, installation, programming, maintenance, and repair of Navien products, and equipment directly related to Navien applications.
  • Be familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the water heating field and hydronics. Understand regional specific differences or issues in the field.
  • Perform a variety of tasks, during occasional non-training periods including, but are not limited to, field inspections, technical site visits and fielding phone calls from various sources.
  • Interact with internal department leaders and staff as necessary, such as Marketing, IT, Product Development, or the Sales Teams as necessary to jointly support business operations and departments.
  • Work with staff and training attendees during and after classes, including non-manual work such as helping organize, attend, and support after class ends.
  • Document weekly responsibilities through required sales and training reports, expense reports, emails, and phone calls. Submit required documents, reports, or information within the required timeframes set forth by the company.
  • Coordinate with Territory and Regional Sales managers regarding significant operational matters including:
  • Scheduling trainings and travel throughout the region or territory
  • Tracking both training targets and sales objectives, and working with staff and reps to achieve those yearly goals
  • Ensuring training objectives are met, including product or audience specific trainings
  • Travel – this position involves extensive travel throughout the territory, to trade shows or meetings, or other regions as needed – approximately 70% travel is typical.


Requirements:

  • The regional trainer must be able to work in multiple roles: as the trainer, a sales coordinator, and, above all else, the ambassador for Navien.
  • Trainer position requires acceptable knowledge and expertise in a related area and 2-4 years of experience in the field or in a related area.
  • Ability to articulate problems and solutions concisely to all levels of customers: laborer, contractor, distributer, engineers and architects.
  • Relies on experience and independent judgment to plan and accomplish significant goals.
  • Strong presentation/public speaking skills and strong customer service skills.
  • Willingness and ability to speak with groups as large as 100+
  • Sales experience and the ability to sell the product is an absolute requirement.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Microsoft Outlook and PowerPoint.
  • Experience and competence in using hand tools and test equipment relevant to the product and water heater/boiler industry.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Navien-specific Tankless or Boiler installation and training experience.
  • Experience in advanced hydronics, with an emphasis on new technologies and control strategies. Design experience in hydronic systems is additionally beneficial.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the manufacturer - manufacturer rep – distributor - contractor sales model and process, and each of their roles in that relationship.


Pay Scale: $80,000 - $90,000 DOE & Bonus Opportunity
