Territory Manager II

Job Summary

Responsible for driving the overall operational and financial success of multiple corporate territories. The Senior Territory Manager will lead teams comprised of multiple storage centers to drive operational effectiveness and efficiency. The Senior Territory manager will typically manage numerous markets and territories with revenue in excess of $10M. Developing relationships with corporate support departments, internal and external customers, businesses and vendors will be crucial to the success of this position.

Leading Associates

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Recruit, interview, hire, train and retain top talent
  • Create a culture aligned with PODS core values (Integrity, Delighting Customers, Engagement, Accountability, Support Through Teamwork)
  • Effectively administer performance management
  • Identify and develop internal talent to support future career growth
  • Provide communication to team members including goals, business results, opportunities for improvement and key focus areas
  • Ensure weekly meetings are held with all territory associates.

Customers

  • Manage customer experience to meet or exceed PODS CSAT and DSAT goals. This will include resolving any identified issues, direct customer contact, refining operational processes and implementing remedial training in an effort to delight our customers
  • Ensure all associates are meeting expectations for brand standards and customer interactions

Operational Excellence

  • Responsible for managing all corporate owned assets within territory (trucks, forklifts, containers etc.)
  • Responsible for maintaining safe and clean storage centers and staging areas within territory.
  • Oversee routing and delivery performance to achieve maximum productivity, monitor delivery progress and make adjustments to ensure pick-up and delivery commitments are met
  • Ensure all equipment repairs are performed safely and promptly to achieve PODS Out of Service targeted levels
  • Ensure territory operating metrics are met or exceeded including Jobs per Hour, ETA’s, Out of Service Containers, and Asset Utilization
  • Manage scheduling of associates to meet the demands of the business
  • Maintain communications with the Sales and Service Center and other divisions for daily delivery and customer requests

Regulatory/Compliance

  • Ensure compliance and associate understanding of all DOT requirements including Hours of Service regulations and licensing
  • Ensure compliance with all OSHA regulations and state and local facility compliance ordinances
  • Ensure adherence to local zoning codes and permit requirements pertaining to delivery and container placement. Manage relationship with local municipalities
  • Ensure all deliveries meet local regulatory requirements and obtain permits or authorization as required
  • Perform quarterly self-audits, identify areas of improvement and address deficiencies to achieve a satisfactory overall rating
  • Ensure compliance of lease agreements including equipment, service and facility maintenance
  • Responsible for adherence to internal company policies (i.e. Incident Reports, Drug Screening Policy, HR policies related to safety and compliance)

Financial Management

  • Manage the day-to-day operation with a focus on managing established budgets and maximizing profitability
  • Participate in the annual AOP process with a focus on resources and efficiencies which drive financial results
  • Actively assess and discuss with FP&A the forecasting trends of territories and/or markets
  • Conduct monthly reviews of financial results and expenditures

Other Duties

  • Flexibility to travel frequently to storage centers throughout territory.
  • May be required to perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Management & Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Typically reports to Regional Vice President.
  • Job is directly responsible for managing other employees (e.g., hiring/termination and/or pay decisions, performance management). Job title example(s) of employees directly supervised: Market Managers, Driver Leads, Drivers, Storage Center Workers, and Repair Technicians .

JOB QUALIFICATIONS: Education & Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience required.
  • A minimum of 10 years of multi-location management experience required with at least 7 of those years in a people leadership role.
  • 5 or more years of multi-location management experience in a route based business is preferred.
  • Experience in managing truck fleets and heavy equipment.
  • Demonstrated track record of driving operational efficiencies in a leadership role.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit at a desk for up to 8 hours a day; Ability to type on a keyboard and use a mouse to navigate
  • Ability to stand and walk up to 8 hours a day; Ability to stoop, bend and lift up to 50 lbs
  • Occasionally required to stand; walk and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
  • Required to use hands and arms to reach; ability to talk and hear
  • Ability to hear and verbally communicate using a telephone handset

WORKING CONDITIONS

Regular business hours: some additional hours may be required including Saturdays/Sundays.

Travel requirements: Within Local Territory.

Storage centers are climate controlled. Deliveries made in all weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is moderate to high.

May be subject to pre-employment criminal background check and/or drug screening as well as random drug screenings in accordance with company policy.
