The Territory Asset Protection Manager/Chicagoland (TAPM) is a field-based position that is responsible for supporting the Asset Protection strategy and owning the Shrink, Damages, and Safety results in the Chicagoland and surrounding areas. The TAPM is also responsible for leading and developing the Territory Asset Protection Specialist(s) assigned to their territory. The TAPM acts as the primary investigator for American Freight and is responsible for the identification and successful resolution of all associate dishonesty cases within his/her assigned territory, while also having responsibility to be the liaison between all local and federal law enforcement agencies.

Position Responsibilities Overview

  • Owns the Shrink Focus Store (SFS) Program in each of the designated SFS in their assigned territory.
  • Performs in-depth SFS audits and ensures Operational audits in leading indicator stores are completed.
  • Compiles detailed action plans on all audit/store visit findings including the development and follow-up of action plans to correct identified deficiencies.
  • Acts as a subject matter expert on the physical inventory process. This includes facilities preparedness, P.I. accuracy, and ensuring the established inventory process is executed on inventory day. Ensures post P.I. research is completed as applicable.
  • Educates, motivates, and influences store team members and field management in achieving the established shrink, damages and safety goals.
  • Monitors and proactively addresses outliers related to controllable costs, profit, margin, operational processes, and compliance as measured through appropriate scorecard/reports.
  • Conducts and directs investigations in partnership with the Central Investigations team, ensuring all investigations meet the established standards while leveraging exception-based reporting, CCTV, and associate tips to ensure a successful outcome of the investigation.
  • Prepares professional case files, and partners field leadership, Human Resources, and local Law Enforcement as appropriate to successfully close dishonest cases or crimes committed against American Freight.
  • Is the liaison with various law enforcement agencies and coordinates dissemination of data related to store incidents, investigations, or other inquiries.
  • Provide recommendations for the implementation of policies and procedures, and creation or modification of systems to prevent and/or minimize loss or liability.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Desired Skills & Experiences

  • Bachelor's degree preferred. Equivalent related experience can substitute for degree.
  • Minimum 5 years combined experience but must include multi-unit management experience and experience in the Asset Protection industry.
  • Ability to use strategic thought process to minimize exposure to emerging threats and trends.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, prioritizing (time management), problem solving and presentation skills.
  • Ability to influence key business partners.
  • Formal Interview / Interrogation training preferred.
  • Previous use / knowledge of exception-based reporting tools.
  • CCTV system knowledge
  • Advanced computer skills required including Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access, Adobe).
  • Loss Prevention Qualified / Certified, CFI or other industry certifications a plus.
  • Must be willing to travel (Approx. 75%) and be flexible with working hours depending on business needs and deadlines.

COMPENSATION:

As required by multiple state pay transparency laws, American Freight provides a reasonable range of compensation for each job posting. Actual compensation is influenced by an array of factors including, but not limited to, skill set, level of experience, and cultural fit. The range of starting pay for this role is $75,000 to 85,000 per year.
