Position Summary
Join our community! We are currently seeking a dynamic Sociology Instructor for a term appointment, starting August 2024 through May 2025. We offer an enriching environment for both faculty and students. This position entails primarily in-person teaching, with potential opportunities for online and remote instruction.
Position Description
Reporting to the Division or Department Chair, the Term Appointment Faculty Member will deliver engaging instruction aligned with course objectives and institutional policies. The successful candidate will demonstrate expertise in teaching courses such as Principles of Sociology, Criminology, Social Problems, and Cultural Diversity.
Preferred qualifications include prior experience in college-level instruction, particularly in online teaching and course development using platforms like Brightspace. A Master's Degree in Sociology is required.
Responsibilities
Conduct scheduled classes and learning activities as per established modality
Coordinate with departmental leadership for any anticipated absences
Provide comprehensive course outlines and grading criteria to students
Maintain accurate records of attendance, withdrawal, and grades
Submit required reports in a timely manner
Engage in departmental initiatives, including recruitment and planning
Serve as an academic advisor to Sociology students
Salary And Benefits
The starting salary for this position ranges from $47,500 to $56,500 per academic year, commensurate with qualifications and experience. A comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, retirement plans, tuition waivers, and additional perks, is provided. Please note that this position is contingent upon funding availability.
Minimum Qualifications
Master's Degree in Sociology
Ability to teach introductory and upper-level courses
Demonstrated commitment to innovative teaching and student mentorship
Effective interpersonal, communication, and technology skills
