About the Role

The Lead Technician, actually service in the capacity of Quality Control Technician for the Installation Team. The primary purpose for the Installation (QC) Technician is to perform daily inspections on fiber installs for both residential and business customers. These inspections should identify the root cause(s) of substandard work or incorrectly installed elements on projects in the field and help coordinate corrective actions. This role is vital to ensuring connectivity of telephone, high-speed internet, and television through the Zoom Technology fiber network and infrastructure.


Responsibilities

  • Ability to conduct independent daily site inspections to monitor and document installations progress, including accurate and organized daily reports, photos, and quality control/safety standards and regulations
  • Ensure proper site operation; inspecting cable and electrical equipment
  • Perform accurate dimensional, physical and visual inspections of residential and commercial installations.
  • Travel to service area/territory day-to-day.
  • Successfully complete OLM activations and speed tests.
  • Monitor the work of contractors to ensure quality control and contract compliance for projects of routine to moderate complexity.
  • On-site support as necessary during major outages or sensitive network impacts to provide supervision and oversight of internal and external resources.
  • Understand of NESC standards.
  • Monitor quality requirements in accordance with the company quality assurance policies and customer specifications.
  • Must be able to perform the initial setup of high-speed internet service as well as troubleshoot and repair high speed wireless service for customers.
  • Adhere to the Company’s quality standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Using a courteous and professional approach to address customer questions and concerns.
  • Completing detailed activity log, and other reports/documentation.
  • Contact homeowners and site managers to ensure installation satisfaction.
  • Demonstrate attention to accuracy in all duties and responsibilities.


Qualifications

  • High proficiency of fiber installation (underground and aerial), including splicing and testing specifications, and ability to read and understand blueprints/construction drawings.
  • Available to travel within the assigned territory day-to-day (Greater Phoenix area).
  • Must be able to effectively use basic hand tools: screwdriver (regular and Phillips), torpedo level, tape measure, snips (with belt sheath), and pliers (needle nose and channel locks), crescent wrench, sewing (stitching) needle, cable sheers, flush cutting pliers, multi-meter and rubber mallet (gray).
  • Self-motivated, ability to work independently with minimal supervisor.
  • Experience with fiber network and other digital infrastructure builds.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Hold or willing to obtain relevant OSHA certifications.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Understands Microsoft Office/365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and MS Project).
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • 3 years direct experience as Field Service Technician or related role within Telecommunications industry.
  • Valid Arizona driver’s license, required (clean MVR).
  • Willing to participate in background checks as well as drug-screen
