Title: Technical Program Manager (TPM)-Onsite Renewable Construction


Purpose: The Technical Program Manager-Onsite Renewable Construction will be responsible for ensuring the safety and performance of an onsite renewable energy portfolio by leading design, documenting and submitting reviews, and reviewing all commissioning, testing plans and reports across the portfolio for compliance.


Position Responsibilities:

• Manage relationships with multiple teams and internal business partners to drive increased performance.

• Comprehend and ensure compliance with applicable environmental, interconnection, transmission operator and client rules, regulations, and standards. Capable of understanding and complying with the contractual terms outlined in various agreements and contracts.

• Perform design submission reviews to ensure compliance with specifications and industry standards.

• Perform review and analysis of commissioning plan, commissioning agent qualifications, and commissioning report.

• Perform review and analysis of testing and summary reports throughout the lifecycle of the construction project. To include:

o Insulation resistance testing (IRT) or Megger testing

o Polarity testing

o System performance testing

o Independent engineer certification

• Review and validate system as built submission.

• Demonstrate analytical and quantitative skills with an ability to use hard data or metrics to develop business cases.

• Recognize and proactively drive opportunities to simplify processes.

• Identify, assess, track, and mitigate issues and risks at multiple levels.

• Draft and prepare various forms of written communications to project management, subcontractors, and client technical support personnel.

• Able and willing to grow into other technologies, such as fuel cells, geo- thermal, etc.


Knowledge and Skill Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Electrical, Industrial, Mechanical, Civil), or technical degree from an accredited university, master’s degree in electrical engineering or relevant field related to renewable energy system strongly preferred.

• Licensed Professional Engineer

• 5+ years’ experience with solar systems design & engineering, electrical distribution systems for large commercial on-site solar projects, construction, and commissioning of power generation facilities

• 3+ years of experience in a technical leadership role; technical program management, lead/senior engineer, or systems development

• Knowledge and strong understanding of electrical and building codes associated with solar systems.

• Experience with Solar Construction Standards and Techniques

• Exceptional knowledge of National Electrical Codes, electrical specifications, NFPA70e, and OSHA guidelines surrounding safe construction practices.

• Exceptional communication skills and ability to successfully interact and negotiate with technical and operational stakeholders both internally and externally.

• Must be able and willing to travel up to 50% both domestically and internationally.

Preferred qualifications

• Six Sigma/Project Management certification (PMP or equivalent)

• Specification writing experience.

• NABCEP Certification (any of the following): PV Installation Professional (PVIP), PV Installer Specialist (PVIS), PV System Inspector (PVSI), PV Commissioning & Maintenance (PVCMS)

• Proficiency in MS Office Suite, Procore software and Autodesk

• Familiar with small DC system sizing 500KW to 7MW
