A job coach is a teacher assistant position that requires specialized skills and training.
Roles and Resonsbilities
Job coaches provide short-term support to students who are learning new jobs in the school or in the community.
Assists in setting work plans for students including accommodations, scheduling, transportation, and task analysis
Provides direct support and systematic training to students working in the community; assists in travel training
Collects data on student progress in the work environment; assists in the social integration of students in the workplace
Trains students to the level of independence and fades support on the job
May support students from other schools when necessary
Performs related work as required
Qualifications
Applicants must have excellent communication and decision-making skills and be comfortable working in the community
Graduation from high school, supplemented by course work in child development or STEM related field, and experience working with children; or any equivalent combination of education and experience that would provide the following knowledge, abilities, and skills:
Knowledge of student behavior as applied to children; of the language, culture, and other characteristics of the families whose children are enrolled in Loudoun County Public Schools
Ability to work effectively with children; to carry out designated instructional assignments properly; to note and record student behavior; to supervise student behavior and learning activities; to perform general clerical work
Performs related work as required
