Systems Administrator

Job Description

The System Administrator is primarily responsible for the management of Clay County Utility Authority’s (CCUA) computing environment which includes both physical and virtual servers. The System Administrator provides leadership and guidance to the Infrastructure Team to build, maintain, and grow a secure and effective computer automation capability to support CCUA’s mission. In this role, the System Administrator maintains the confidentiality, availability, and integrity of the computing environment to support the IT Department’s mission and meet CCUA’s business requirements. Strategically, this position supports long-term business goals by improving security, reliability, efficiency, and recommending innovative technical solutions. The position is responsible for maintaining computer configuration baselines, security compliance, disaster recovery procedures, and business continuity solutions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage the Infrastructure Team to include assignment of work, performance management, and goal setting; provide guidance and leadership to foster a successful team.
  • Utilize expert knowledge to provide technical support, training, and problem-solving advice to internal customers; function in the capacity of the other IT Department roles as needed.
  • Develop and maintain templates and baselines for CCUA’s servers and VDI master images.
  • Develop and maintain scripts to help perform administrative tasks quickly and effectively.
  • Collaborate with other department members to prepare a comprehensive annual budget proposal.
  • Analyze, recommend, and apply security controls to reduce CCUA’s cybersecurity risk exposure.
  • Provide compliance oversight to ensure Infrastructure Team activities are performed within the parameters of applicable laws, codes, and regulations.
  • Interface effectively with other staff on multi-disciplinary projects, as well as with consultants or contractors.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Associate’s degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or Computer Science required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or Computer Science preferred.
  • Minimum of eight years of experience in the Information Technology field working with computers, networks, cybersecurity controls, and servers required.
  • Certification in CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network + required.
  • Certification in CompTIA Security+ preferred.
