Job Summary
The System Administrator is responsible for managing and maintaining Hill College's computer systems, servers, and related infrastructure. This role ensures the stability, security, and optimal performance of all IT infrastructure to support the academic and administrative functions of the college. The System Administrator will work closely with faculty, staff, and students to provide technical support and implement new technologies that enhance the learning environment.

The System Administrator will work closely with faculty, staff, and students to provide technical support and implement new technologies that enhance the learning environment.
Minimum Required Education
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology or related field
- Three to five years of system administration experience, or a combination of education and experience commensurate with the requirements of the position.
- Ability to effectively work and communicate with and train people with varying degrees of technical experience and knowledge.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule to accommodate work requirements.
- Must be current on trends, developments, and best practices in computer technology.
- Ability to work independently to manage and complete projects.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment using servant leadership skills.
- Able to use advanced logical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to prioritize, plan and organize multiple tasks to meet deadlines.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with both internal and external constituents.
- Exceptional organizational, prioritization, attention to detail and follow-up skills.
- Proficient in word processing, database, spreadsheet, and presentation software.
- Microsoft environments, Server OS, SQL, Azure, MS Teams, 365
- Familiarity with cloud services
- Experience with virtualization
- Endpoint management
- Proven experience as a System Administrator or similar role.
- Strong Knowledge of system security and data backup/recovery.
- Install, configure, and maintain operating systems, software, and hardware.
- Manage and monitor all installed systems and server infrastructure.
- Ensure high availability and performance of critical systems and services.
- Implement and maintain security measures to protect data and IT infrastructure.
- Perform regular security monitoring and audits to identify and mitigate risks.
- Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and institutional policies.
- Diagnose and resolve hardware and software issues in a timely manner.
- Manage and respond to help desk tickets and service requests.
- Develop and implement backup and recovery strategies to safeguard critical data.
- Conduct regular backups and test restore procedures.
- Plan and execute IT projects, including system upgrades, migrations, and new implementations.
- Collaborate with other departments to understand their IT needs and provide effective solutions.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of systems, configurations, procedures, and policies.
- Generate regular reports on system performance, security incidents, and project progress.
- Provide training and support to end-users as needed
- Occasional after-hours and weekend work may be required.
- Some travel required to other Hill College locations.
- Security sensitive position.
- Valid Texas Driver’s license
- Medium work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
- Moderate bending, stooping, and kneeling required.
