The Surgery Scheduler is responsible for scheduling surgeries for the assigned physician(s). Responsibilities include coordinating surgical procedures with multiple hospitals and surgery centers, scheduling and obtaining pre-operative testing, writing and communicating surgery orders and collecting necessary documentation for surgeries. The employee works closely with patients, physicians and surgery locations to provide accurate, timely and responsive paperwork. ** Coordinate and schedule surgeries, follow-up appointments as designated by the physician(s). **Interact with patients, physicians and other staff from both within the Center for Orthopaedics and outside facilities providing accurate, timely and responsive information. **Coordinate processes and routes all paperwork as required to meet physician and facility requirements. **Ensures efficient telephone communication. **Documents work processes as required. **Complete pre-operative visit and paperwork with the patients. **Ensure appropriate documentation and consents are received and sent to hospital/surgery center. **Follow all written protocols and procedures. **Demonstrate courtesy towards patients and their families. **Must be able to recognize and respond appropriately to urgent / emergent situations. **Establish and maintain effective working relationships with physicians, staff and management. **Book surgeries based on physician volume maintaining appropriate standard turn around times. **Identify scheduling barriers and implement solutions to improve scheduling results based on predetermined goals. **Follow established surgery center/hospital precautions and procedures in the performance of all job duties to ensure a safe work environment. **Follow up with the patients after the procedures to ensure appropriate healing per protocol.
