The SJRA is a public entity whose mission is to develop, conserve, and protect the water resources of the San Jacinto River basin. Its primary purpose is to implement long-term, regional projects related to water supply and water quality. SJRA delivers raw water to both municipal and industrial consumers and provides water treatment and wastewater services through the ownership, operation, and maintenance of infrastructure including reservoirs, groundwater wells, surface water and wastewater treatment plants, pump stations, lift stations, and miles of open channel and conveyance systems.

Summary

The San Jacinto River Authority is seeking to fill the position of Utility Operator at our 30MGD surface water treatment plant, GRP (Groundwater Reduction Plan) Division in Conroe, Texas. This position would operate water treatment, supply, transmission and distribution systems in a safe, cost-effective and efficient manner, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations. Some of the duties include:

• Prepares, reviews, documents, organizes and files correspondence, reports and records related to operational activities and performs data entry into system operations daily log.
• Through SCADA data and physical interaction, evaluates system pressures, equipment operation and instrument readings; advises the lead operator regarding any process adjustments conducted or required to optimize operations.
• Performs general manual labor including cleaning equipment, facilities and grounds when required.
• Operates Authority vehicles and/or equipment for operational purposes by driving from facility to facility to conduct job duties.
• Performs various routine and non-routine field and laboratory sampling and testing (chemical, physical and biological) for process and disinfection adjustments.
• Tracks and maintains inventory; orders chemicals and supplies for plant operations.
• Effectively utilizes the EAM computerized maintenance management system for various components such as workorders and parts inventory control.
• Performs general equipment maintenance including, but not limited to, routine preventive maintenance, lubrication and minor adjustments.
• Follows safety regulations, policies, principles, and procedures. Utilizes all appropriate personal protective equipment.
• This position is classified as a safety sensitive position. The individual holding this position is subject to random, unannounced drug and alcohol testing.
• This position is classified as primary essential personnel. The individual holding this position will be required to work as usual or as needed (1) during an emergency event, (2) in preparation for an emergency event, and/ or (3) during recovery from an emergency event as directed by their direct supervisor, appropriate Department/Division Manager, the appropriate Senior Level Manager, or the General Manager.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED
• At least 2 years of progressively responsible experience in the operations and maintenance of surface water treatment systems.
• A minimum of a TCEQ Class C Surface Water Operator license is required.
• Valid Texas Driver’s license with an insurable driving record.
