Summary
The Secure Supply Chain Manager manages the flow of goods, services, and information required by the supply chain to ensure critical processes run effectively and achieve organizational goals and KPI’s. They lead coordination activities between procurement, production, inventory control, distribution, transportation, engineering and other functions that optimize the supply chain. Additionally, they monitor suppliers for quality and performance. This position is accountable for developing new suppliers to assist in meeting material cost savings goals. To ensure success, candidate should exhibit extensive knowledge of business operations and experience in Government contracting manufacturing. The position will also oversee logistics, procurement, and contracts.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage company’s inventory and ensure accuracy of all incoming/outgoing shipments.
- Oversee preparation of orders for delivery or pickup according to schedule
- Audit freight cost and documentation
- Oversee coordination of deliveries for repaired or returned items (NCMs)
- Manage year-end and general inventory procedures
- Ensure compliance with material shipments in accordance to contractual requirements
- Ensure adherence to internal procedures, rules & export regulations and initiate changes for shipping and receiving processes and provide input to any Operations procedures as business model requires.
- Ensure proper handling of all material in accordance with ESD requirements and FOD requirements as dictated by Quality Assurance standards and procedures.
- Supervise logistics, contracts, and procurement departments.
- Work closely with production on expediting deliveries, reporting on delivery schedules and material shortages, processing materials on the production floor and supporting miscellaneous purchase requests
- Resolve material discrepancies, process rejected parts back to suppliers and investigate and resolve invoicing problems reported by accounting
- Maintain adequate inventory of supplies to support manufacturing operations
- Report material status on a regular basis to management
- Maintain constant correspondence with suppliers and customers
- Assist in the development of various programs/contracts/logistics/supply plans as appropriate
- Implement and maintain suppliers’ performance metrics in the AS9100 quality environment (price, quality, on-time deliveries, service, etc.)
- Look for cost effective ways to develop new suppliers and products by evaluating costs and seeking more economical alternatives and develop solutions to production issues to optimize the process and ensure cost-effectiveness
- Build and maintain strong, collaborative relationships and keep abreast of developments in supply chain
- Collaborate with compliance, finance, procurement, engineering, and operations teams to determine the best potential vendors and distributors
- Maintain strong project management skills to manage a project from start to finish within certain constraints. It includes budgeting, scheduling, setting goals, creating timelines, and accountability
- Oversee soliciting RFQs, gathering and comparing quotes, negotiating deliveries and issuing Purchase orders in several ERP systems
- Work closely with production on expediting deliveries, reporting on delivery schedules and material shortages, processing materials on the production floor and supporting miscellaneous purchase requests
- Will follow up on material discrepancies, process rejected parts back to suppliers and investigate and resolve invoicing problems reported by accounting
- Maintain adequate inventory of supplies to support manufacturing operations
- Report material status on a regular basis to management
- Oversee the preparation of proposals, consultant agreements, bailment agreements and customer contracts
- Oversee creation of Sales Orders in the ERP system based on customer contracts.
- Oversee the project set up in the ERP system based on customer contracts
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in business management, contracts, supply chain management, supply chain engineering, logistics, or related field required.
- The successful candidate will have a working knowledge of US Government acquisition process; including contracting, contract types and procurement processes
- 5+ years manufacturing, procurement, supply chain, and logistics experience
- Experience leading continuous improvement, Lean Six Sigma certification strongly preferred.
- Strong analytical skills, emotional intelligence, organizational skills, and presentation skills
- Must be able to comprehend legal documents.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance
- Ability to read and interpret drawings and diagrams, work with BOMs
- Proficiency in Excel
- Working knowledge of DELTEK Cost Point or a similar ERP/MRP system
- Strong computer skills
- High level of attention to detail and excellent organizational skills are required
- Ability to handle multiple tasks while cognizant of deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Familiarity with Federal Acquisition Regulations/DFAR is desired
- Familiarity with the US Foreign Military Funding (FMF) Program is desired
- APICS/ISM/Supply Chain certification or similar is desired
- US Citizenship is required.
- Subject to a background check prior to employment.
- Travel: up to < 10-15 % of the time
