About the Job


We are looking for a Director of Supply Chain to manage relationships with vendors, suppliers, distributors, and other providers across the supply chain. This includes identifying vendors, negotiating preferred terms and prices, developing and implementing our procurement strategy, and ensuring supply availability.


The Director of Supply Chain stays abreast of trending economic and business conditions within the supply chain, as well as industry best practices, adjusting actions of the Supply Chain team as needed. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience leading supply chain teams in a manufacturing environment and have a background in renewable energy or semiconductor.


Candidates must be bilingual, English & Mandarin speaking.


What you’ll be doing:

  • Strategize, define and implement the overall supply chain strategy, sourcing, and supplier selection, aimed at optimizing costs and operational efficiencies.
  • Provide overall leadership and management to the Supply Chain Team consisting of Purchasing, Strategic Sourcing, and Inventory Management. Serve as subject matter expert for the supply chain team cross-functionally.
  • Develop procurement policies, implement sourcing strategies, and conduct supplier selection processes to identify the best sourcing options.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain policies, procedures, and material control systems to reduce cost, streamline procedures, and resolve supply issues.
  • Define and develop cost roadmaps for all equipment and services.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand product requirements for equipment and other components, including battery energy storage, solar PV, and other balance of system components.
  • Negotiate terms and pricing with suppliers and drive procurement activities.
  • Develop and execute sourcing strategies to ensure continuity of supply while managing risks across the supply chain.
  • Track and analyze vendor performance, establish and maintain relevant KPI’s, monitor and manage relevant metrics including spend analytics, operational efficiencies, supplier performance, warranty recovery and benefit capture from procurement activities.
  • Identify and execute initiatives to increase procurement process efficiency & effectiveness, including implementation of procurement software solutions.
  • Use industry and market expertise to adapt and change strategies ensuring consistent cost competitiveness.
  • Technical and business aptitude to understand the technology, model cost and working capital, and generate creative solution to meet goals.
  • Strong written and oral communication necessary to establish and build relationships with supplier key executives and effectively communicate to Trina Solar’s senior management, supporting high level decision making.



Your qualifications:

  • 10+ years of supply chain development and/or strategic sourcing experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years leading and managing supply chain teams at a manufacturer.
  • Training and or certification in structured problem solving and continuous improvement (e.g., Lean/Six Sigma) is desired.
  • Deep working knowledge of the renewable energy market and vendor landscape, pricing, terms and trends.
  • Experience negotiating with suppliers for best overall price, delivery, availability, and terms.
  • Ability to influence internal and external teams, with strong negotiation skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and manage risks.
  • Ability to communicate with diverse stakeholders including engineering on technical subject matters.
  • Background in mechanical, electrical, or industrial engineering is helpful.
  • Bilingual English/Mandarin is preferred but not required.

Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, education, skills, and experience. Additional discretionary incentive may be available. Full-time employees are eligible for PTO, medical, dental and vision coverage, 401(k) plan and flexible spending accounts, subject to plan terms.
