Yamaha has an excellent opportunity for a Product Development Supervisor to join our Marine team in Kennesaw, GA. This role is responsible for leading and supervising the product development team, reporting KPI to management, monitoring team members performance, ensuring all projects are delivered on time, and creating individual development plans for team members. This position is responsible for a proficient communication between Procurement, Product Management, Engineering, QA, Sales, Operations, and Marketing. Completion of some of these duties will require in-person visits to supplier, or YMUS Marine Business Unit Company, plants.

What you'll be doing:

  • Lead and manage the procurement product development team, ensuring on-time delivery, quality measures, and production capacity. Engaging in negotiations to achieve the target/optimal cost.
  • Partner with Product Management/Engineering to develop and execute project goals and budgets.
  • Manage the process used for identifying and qualifying suppliers for manufacturing of prototypes, developing production plans, and collaborate with PQE (procurement quality engineer) to ensure quality suppliers.
  • Manage and develop cost reduction and supplier selection processes based on ML (maker layout)
  • Enforce development process structure and lead cross-functional development teams to ensure QDC (Quality, Delivery, and Cost).
  • Lead advanced development, prototype, pre-production, and mass-production development discussions.
  • Manage and develop supplier management processes to include KPI setting, KPI performance reports, and part strategy analysis to set ML (maker layout).
  • Manage and develop procurement processes such as cost analysis, supplier selection, and cost setting.
  • Verify RFI/RFP/RFQ analysis and cost verification processes, and the process to clarify the gap between target cost and quotation cost.
  • Partner with YMUS Marine Business Unit Companies to implement cost reduction activities with their suppliers.


What you need to be successful:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field
  • 5+ years experience in procurement, manufacturing environment, or logistics field required
  • Must have 2+ years of managerial experience
  • Knowledge of APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning)
  • Experience in Boat or Automotive industries preferred
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills with applied experience working in a cross functional team environment
  • Excellent analytical and reporting skills
  • Excellent written/verbal communications skills
