Lake Quivira Country Club is a private 1000-acre community located on the west side of Kansas City. Developed in the late 1920’s and officially opened in 1931, Lake Quivira has grown to be something very special in the Kansas City market. The club not only has some of the best views in the city, but we also have a wide array of amenities we offer our residents, members, and guests. From the fun, yet challenging, golf course to the community center which offers indoor tennis, pickleball, lap pool, Kindergarten, full fitness facility, studios with a variety of classes and a golf simulator studio. Our 220-acre lake offers boating, fishing, sailing, kayaking, and a full, active beach for kids and adults to enjoy. Our property has a variety of other areas to enjoy including a private equestrian center with pastures, arena, parks, campgrounds, common areas and 13 different hiking trails through the forest surrounding our lake community. The Golf Course Superintendent reports directly to the Assistant General Manager/Director of Maintenance, Todd Towery. Todd is a seasoned Superintendent nationally and in the Kansas City area with over 35 years’ experience in the golf course maintenance business. Todd has hosted 10+ prestigious championship golf tournaments on the local, state, and national stage with the Senior, LPGA and PGA Tours. Todd has a proven track record of coaching, and mentoring, with the mindset of personal growth for himself and his staff of working to be 1% better every day. His knowledge and expertise can and will take you to the next level in your career!
This position is responsible for the training, managing, and organizing daily maintenance work of up to 24 staff members in season. This position will also be heavily involved in pesticide / fertilizer applications and calibrations, record keeping, various budget work, scheduling, expense and payroll tracking. Most importantly, to be an active participant and to continue a culture of growth, opportunity, and enjoyment from making a difference every day where our team, residents, members and guests’ expectations are always met.

Qualifications, Education, And Preferred Skills
Bachelor’s degree in Agronomy, Horticulture or Plant Science.
An Associate’s degree from an intensive two-year turf grass management program.
Additional training in mechanics, design, surveying and ecology.
Previous work as an assistant to an experienced Golf Course Superintendent.
Previous supervisory experience in a club or golf course setting.
Understand the rules of golf and be up-to-date on federal, state and local laws on golf course operations.
Administrative and executive ability, especially critical in problem-solving and decision-making.
Knowledge of ability to perform required role in emergency situations.
MUST BE ELIGIBLE TO WORK IN THE UNITED STATES.
Physical Demands and Environment
Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions.
Frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals.
Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; extreme cold; extreme heat; risk of electrical shock; and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
Able to meet and perform the physical requirements and to work effectively in an environment which is typical of this position.

Hours and Attendance
Varied and flexible shifts/days, likely to include nights, weekends, and holidays.
Regular attendance in conformance with the standards, which may be established by the club from time to time, is essential to the successful performance of this position. Team members with irregular attendance will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.
