Hands-On Technology Education, LLC (HOTE) seeks to provide safe, engaging, and balanced STEAM-based summer activities for elementary, middle, and high-school students with a focus on introducing Technology and Computer Engineering in fun and interactive ways.
Candidates for this job posting will be current (or just graduating) COLLEGE STUDENTS who bring enthusiasm for working with students, bring experience in facilitating or completing introductory level STEAM projects for the K-12 demographic and be excited about training for and implementing some or all of HOTE Technology Adventure Themes & Core STEAM curriculum (handsontecheducation.com) .
Training Dates: March 2024 - May 2024
Camp Dates: June 2024 - August 2024
Locations: Sites located throughout San Diego, Carlsbad, & San Marcos
Responsibilities and Duties
Assist in the direction, supervision, and organization of campers throughout the camp in order to meet the intended camper outcomes.
Participate in the development and implementation of program activities for campers within the mission and outcomes.
Lead recreational and educational activities (such as swimming, caving or crafting)
Escort and oversee children
Educate campers through games and explorations
Be a role model to campers and staff in your attitude and behavior.
Attend employee-training program and other trainings/meetings as directed.
Training
Prior to camp, instructors will receive training in Computer Science & Electrical Engineering concepts and activities targeting K-12 students. Satisfactory completion of training is required for all camp instructors, counselors, and volunteers.

Classroom Management or Workshop Facilitating: 1 year (Preferred)

First Aid Certification (Preferred)

Qualifications And Skills
Must be an incoming or current college student enrolled in undergraduate or graduate studies.
Must be able to obtain or become certified in First Aid/CPR.
Must submit health history record and examination form prior to first day of work.
Ability to interact with all age levels.
Prior experience working with children is preferred.
Prior STEM (Science, Tech, Engineering, Math) workshop experience is a plus.
Prior experience in computer programming is a plus.
Ability to speak fluently in Spanish is a plus.
