The City of Chesterfield is accepting applications for the position of Summer Day Camp Director for the 2024 season.
Responsibilities
Position Summary
Provide resources and manage day-to-day operation for the Day Camp by directing camp staff. Prepare daily plans and provide camper safety. Manage staffing issues, scheduling, training and camp staff evaluations.

Education, experience and training that are required or desirable in order to effectively perform the job at the time of hire. An equivalent combination of education, training and experience will be considered.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Ensure that staff is enforcing the rules and regulations in order to provide a safe environment for campers and other staff members.
- Publish and confirm weekly staff and camp schedules.
- Direct and supervise camp staff by coaching, mentoring, and training subordinate staff.
- Maintain confidential records for campers with inclusion needs.
- Maintain positive and professional communication with families.
- Document camper incidents, accidents and any disciplinary issues.
- Assist with developing and leading alternative activities for the duration of inclement weather.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Assist in developing programs and daily activities for campers.
Job Qualification & Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
Education, experience and training that are required or desirable in order to effectively perform the job at the time of hire. An equivalent combination of education, training and experience will be considered.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum of 1 years of experience working with children required, preferably in an educational or recreational setting.
- Prior experience successfully working with children with special needs desired.
- Minimum of 18 years of age.
- CPR and AED certification are required.

- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and basic knowledge of office equipment and machines.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to effectively organize and prioritize work as well as concentrate on multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Ability to work independently and make responsible decisions.
- Ability to use good judgment and think quickly and rationally in difficult or stressful situations.
Environmental or atmospheric conditions commonly associated with the performance of the duties of this job.
- Indoor and outdoor work environment.
- Occasionally required to work in inclement weather conditions, rain, and heat.
- May be exposed to loud noise levels.

- Work may require frequent standing, walking, climbing, bending, and lifting and carrying up to 45 pounds.
- Must be able to speak and hear clearly.
- Must be able to perform repetitive wrist, hand, and/or finger movement.
- Must have finger dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
- Must have clarity of vision and the ability to adjust focus.
- Regular attendance is a necessary and essential job duty.
- Must submit a background check.
